Hello, Just trying to see if anyone can tell me if this is original or a reproduction....any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
definitely a repro. I suppose you could use a rebel for a little cosmetic surgery to free up the tail and them re-chrome...
Its for 1932 Ford and an aftermarket creation and from recent times- last 25 yrs maybe. It did not exist in 1932 for the Ford.Lincoln , yes.Ford did introduce the Greyhound radiator cap as an accessory in 1934 and only in 1934.There are quite a few aftermarket Ford Greyhound caps (1933-1936)from that period which were sold at JC Whitney and Western auto etc. They appear on that auction site just about every week.
I once heard that Henry's wife didn't appreciate the original Greyhound having a ***** so later one's produced had it removed to make her happy. Anyone else ever hear that story? Supposedly from my source the early "manly" Greyhounds are more valuable. Lynn
On that same subject,------When at the NSRA nats in Detroit 1972, this clever guy with a '34 sedan carefully drilled a small hole in the greyhound's pecker, & ran a small clear tube down to a windshield washer jar with with small pump. operated by dash ****on. Local news media covering the Nats stopped by the sedan owner & had a conversation about the greyhound. Owner said to look closer, whereupon the owner hit the ****on & reporter got a sudden squirt!! Of course it happened many times during the event, & good time was had by all!!!
I saw a similar at Pre-War Chickasha a few years back. A guy drove his Model A coupe from back East somewhere to Chickasha and was spraying people. His ornament was a little boy peeing. He said he got the ornament off of a bottle of liquor. He had a 12V machine that blows bubbles on the back bumper.
