I picked up this Funk-A-Delic Beehive coil at Hershey and can find nothing on the web about it.

It says Grigsby on the top and a couple of patent numbers, they come up as circutry designs, nothing on the coil itself. Thing is cool looking, I hope it works so I can use it on my speedster project.

    Anyone know about these?

  4. I wonder if the grigsby name is part of an ignition system? I have only seen the name in reference to the trigger for a coil, more specifically the system that collapses the field to fire the coil. Either way, that is a superb find! :)

I hope you can get more than admiration in response to this thread!

I did risk a big 10 bux on it ( big spender that I am) , a hamber responded that it looked like the Holthouse coil/ ign system. There is another thread on that and some info, I contected the hamber who posted that for pix. we'll see!

google has a patent number feature. the first patent number comes back as a 1927 patent for what looks to be a distributor that has some internal circuit instead of points, the second number shows the same drawing, but I cna't be sure from the picture what all the digits are in the lower number, what I entered comes back as being filed in 1936.
