I wanted more of a Drag Car look on the "A" Coupe so I made an insert and chopped the shell 2 inches....you guys know my cheap****, this insert cost me nothing.......I found at work 3/8 rod and an old muffler shield off of a 59 Ford 1 ton at work and straightened it.

Please post more inserts for ideas if you have them.

  8. I tried making my own.... it was a total failure!
After I get over the shame of screwing up a lot of good metal I'll try again. Mike

Here is one I made for my 28 chevy delivery. Mostly to protect the radiator from road hazards...ghost

    Royalshifter,
I like yours!! looks great, made it with reasonable stuff and you did it yourself! Perfect.

I did mine from some 3/16 stainless rod and some stainless woven wire screen from McMaster and Carr. Kinda hard to get a good pic of but it protects the radiator and looks good.

Dumb question? Is there a way to calculate the volume of air passed / not passed by one of these custom inserts compared to the cooling air provided by OEM inserts? Or worst case, a custom insert AND a shrouded fan in combination? Anyone care? Gary

Here is one that we are building for a 37 pontiac front fenderless coupe. We didn't have a grille for the pontiac. So we are using a modified 36 chevy shell...ghost
