like said above, for all the time and effort of orchestrating this scheme you would be way ahead if you just pick up the phone and call Riley and buy it now at a fair price from a reputable dealer.
You know i bet theres not a lot of markup on them rails, you'll be luckey to beat riley's price when its said and done.
How's this sound; 4 sets $2,500.oo and I'll pay 1/2 of the shipping. Person paying must be a Alliance member. And shipping must go to a business address. Should be easy to find 3 other guys who want rails...
There ya go. Like others have already said, Eric is a standup guy and I recently went with a set of hubs he sells to run Buick drums. He helped me thru the questions I had well after the sale. It's a no-brainer.
Nothing against Eric at Riley, he's always done me right. I'm interested in stock ASC '32 rails (no notch, I think Eric only stocks notched rails). If anyone in So Cal wants to get together on a group order from ASC, I'm in. The shipping and costs you save on a group order are greater than anything you can buy individually, I've already looked into it. I'll also go in on Eric's deal of 4 for $2500 + 1/2 S&H..if I can get a stock set (un-notched).. that's still a decent deal to me. Just need 3 more buyers.............
Thats pretty cool of vaphead to offer the deal.. I'll be getting ahold of him when I need my rails soon.
Well with you, me, and the other dude that wants to buy from Eric soon we have three buyers. Sounds like we just need a fourth.
so, is there a set fee for shipping? do they charge per mile, per pound? Being in boon-dock FL panhandle, I'm sure it would be cheaper to find them a tad closer to home...Tim D, any thoughts?
or why don't you go with the kiwi connection who is also a alliance vendor, is somewhat local, bakersfield, sells them for 625 a pair and pick them up saving on all shipping and not having to deal with other people hoping they actually hold up there end of the deal. i've gotten several sets of rails and perimiter frames from daune/squeek at kiwi and have always done the pick up around events, like the hot rod reunion, or they've even been nice enough to bring them to the pomona swap and the big 3 swap etc. saving me the gas $ you can't beat there service or prices locally
I didn't know Kiwi Connection sold rails by themselves. That might be something else to look into for us So Cal guys. Thanks for the heads up.
No, there is NOT a set fee for truck freight shipping. This is definitely something you need to do your own homework on. I got a set of frame rails, crossmember, complete front end- pretty much a complete rolling ch***is sans rearend shipped from Michigan to Alaska for about a buck a pound. That was last year, though- there is a set per-pound rate that is determined by what the package is (car parts are actually really cheap, relative to most goods), then there is a fuel surcharge added to that. Last year the fuel surcharge for me was 17.5%. Today, looking at having a Tudor body shipped up here, I'm looking at a 26.5% fuel surcharge. All that being said it's still pretty damn cheap to have **** shipped truck freight. But yeah, you might want to shop around and find someone a little bit closer to you, like ASC themselves. Since they're in Mississippi and all it doesn't make much sense for you to have 'em shipped halfway across the country, then right back by ASC on the way to you.
I'd probably be in too. I either need a set of those or one of his double z'd frames for my new coupe project.
Becoming an Alliance member and patronizing the Alliance Vendors will save you more money on a $10,000 project than a free set of rails. That's my experience, not just my .o2.
