----Grudge Match Bet V8 Flathead vs. OHV Straight 6 ----

Ok, so my bro Travis (215slowpoke) and I are having a little Grudge Match Bet between our
cars.. Its all about shit-talkin rights!
Here's the "Skinny" our cars

215slowpoke runs:
53 ford mainline
215 straight 6 OHV
bored 60 over, decked .060, oversize valves, 270 dur cam, fenton split exhaust to straight pipes,
2x1 intake and a stock 3spd and rear end..

Flatshoebox runs:
49 Ford Coupe
249 Merc Flathead -8CM
bored 60 over, offy 400 heads, oversize valves, mild cam(can't remember what size), headers to
straight pipes, MSD ingnition, 2x2 94s stock 3spd and rear end..(may have OD at time of race)

So with this being said the Race will be setup around late March here in SoCal..Full Hamb
coverage will be available.
Pick a side, V8 or 6 what's it gonna be?

Sounds like both motors are pretty fresh and warmed up. I agree that it will probably be close, but I gotta go with the V8.

I guess both cars have something like a 3:78 rear. If one had a 4:11 and overdrive they'd have a nice edge. The 6 might have the 4:11 as is?

 

I'll bet on a SBC (265) with a 2bl carb.and 4 people in the car!

I tell you what, I raced Cannibal with my '54 Chevy. His tri-powered flathead beat my 235, dual carb and Fenton equipped Chevy. Mind you I did have an enormous, 300 lb guy in the car with me, I was at a disadvantage.

 

My money is on the 6.
