Because it's become traditional to make a bunch of rules as hot rods have become cultural artifacts.

There are no rules in hot rodding.

Not here. Here, the "rules" are strict, and loudly touted. Just read the previous comments in this thread. It's become tiresome.

Do we rail on a guy with a 59 Elco getting a 427? Maybe a 61 or 2 bubble that gets a 454 in vintage speed dress?

The way to make this **** no fun is to take it too seriously. 64-5 GTOs have always been fair game in our world. Chill dafuq out...

It's fine to pop a Chevy big block into any Chevy. But if you're a Pontiac guy, it's like someone twisting the knife, when someone drops one into a goat....

  6. This thread is as on topic as modular wheels from the 80s

  7. Paint it the appropriate pontiac blue, run the gto louvered air cleaner and this decal. I had a 64 tempest that after a long search and no poncho mill found i had set up to do this but sold to pay for daughters wedding. I should have got the car back after the divorce right?

Maybe he's trying to save the original mill and still zoom around.

Can anyone help me source Float-a-motor mounts to put a Flathead Ford V8 in my Hemi Cuda? Thanks in advance.

I could understand someone being scared to death of horsepower, torque and speed.

Don't care what anyone says, the first muscle car was a 49 Olds 88. I'm not alone in this thinking.

AS for the OP putting a 454 in a GTO, put the big block in it! make it drive, if some was say some dumb **** like "why did you put a Chevy motor in it?" just ask them where their GTO is. Drive it, beat on it, that's what they are for!

Some also think it was 55 Chrysler C-300. Opinions are just that , opinions.

I'm wondering when the '64' rule changed. The BBC didn't arrive until 1965.....

Gee, I guess you'll have to explain that to a lot of GM execs, dealers, their employees and customers who developed, produced, sold, serviced, and owned them. ;)

Never a truer statement. Way back when a Pontiac mill was an American car.

In my ‘63 Chevy 2, it had a Chevelle frame , Pontiac V8 power and 3x2 set up.

OK, my error in the date, but...
    4. We cover traditional '65 and older American cars only. All other threads will be deleted. We don't cover rat rods, muscle cars, mustangs, or VWs.

It's just odd how some of the verboten still get a p***.
