Nice job on the wishbone mounts (all of it actually). - I'd be tempted to locally box the rail in that area so the bottom rail doesn't get overstressed. Had this happen once years ago - once bitten twice shy.

i've spent the majority of this weekend removing the firewall and cutting the sub floors out to mock up the body on the chassis with a 4'' channel and i couldn't be happier, i think it looks 1000 times more badass than it used to!















wont be needing this anymore!

Even though I could have happily lived with it as it was before there's no denying that it looks pretty bitchen now Neil!! It's hard to tell in the pictures but does the grille need lowering a bit now?

you have a good eye! it's mocked up way lower than it was but it still needs to go down half an inch.

as far as stans chevy, i hope it does get done! it's been long enough! it'll be classed as a barn find by the time it sees the light of day..

 

Cool, have you considered an East Coast style grille like a '38 truck or E83 Fordson?

it just has to be a deuce grill for me steve, i absolutely love the look of them on a late A.

i got guernsey sheet metal to bend me these bits of 2mm steel today (65''x3''x4'' for anyone wondering)



i needed to pie cut them and weld them up to allow for the small kink near the back of the sub rail













i've cut quite a large portion of each sub rail away and i'm replacing them with these parts so they bolt directly to the chassis rails (there will be a rubber gasket between) then i'll need to make some top hat shaped pieces to run across the width of the floor that the new floor boards will drop into. hope that makes sense..

for anyone wondering, by putting these angle pieces so that the 4'' side bolts to the rail and the 3'' side is vertical, it equates to a 4 1/2 inch channel (allowing 1/8'' for the rubber strip).

What i like about this build is the lack of store bought bits and easy, well thought out engineering,making an excellent job just look too easy.not bad for a pomey (lol )sorry err English gentleman
