I picked these headlights up at a Flea Market last weekend. One is marked as a Guide 682-C but the other one has no markings on it. They look very similar but the bases and the wiring connections are diffrent. Just wondering what I have here. The Guide is on the right in the pics. If anyone is interested in these, they could be up for grabs.

These had no tags but the Chevy/Guide rings fit. Mine appear to be longer than most I've seen. Nobody payed attention to these for ages until recently so I doubt that there is any definative encyclopedia of Guide style headlights. They came on so many trucks that positively identifying a flea market headlight with a specific make and model will be really tough.

Thanks guys. I have seen the prices of the 682's on ebay. I was just wondering if the other might have been another Guide w/o a tag on them. I might drop these over to the classified section. I just dont need them right now.

The left one has a Diamond T mount ... they're stamped "Guide" in the peak of the dome.

As a general rule: They are both Guides/BLC's. If it has a tag it is probably aftermarket, and if no tag it was probably OE on some big truck like a Diamond T or Reo or Mack.

Thanks guys for sheding some light on these. I knew the Guide piece was a good find but I wasn't so sure about the other one. One of those deals where I only really looked at one and had already payed the man before I realized they were diffrent.

edit: now i see this is old....

I have two lights.....both the same.......one had some pretty bad rust through.

So, I posted a want ad here and on the Fordbarn. A nice fella fixed me up with one. However, now mine are like your's. I have one with one style of connection (bakalite sp?? 3 brass screws) and the other one a hole for the wiring...

I was wondering the same thing....

I need to see your listing....I'd like to buy another matching one...

The next hot lick for highboys will be original 36 Ford headlights with their bubble lenses. 30 years ago Guides were 20bux a pair and only a restorer could stomach the 36 lights. Except me.:D I like them because they are so distinctive.

I think I like the rounded parking lens better than my pointy ones but they are all cool. Ya got a nice lookin' set.

Pointy, second series, lens can be had @ <cite class="bc">www.otbgear.com. Site claims they are better glass and will fit original housing. They also sell a version of the 682-C that looks encouraging if you don't need bragging rights and the little brass tag to prove they are original. I have fallen in love with these lights and want a pair for my T project. Speedway also sells them, without sealed beams (save on shipping). Ebay prices are a little salty, even if the patina on a nice pair is worth considering. They grow on you. I thought 34 commericals were top of the heap until I started looking at these.

Thread is over 6 years old but hey, these lights are still popular...
