Motored up to Gunnedah for the Tamworth Drag Racing Club event last weekend. Saturday was windy but dry with a good number of entrants chomping at the bit to have a go. Once again we had to wait for the stragglers who think 9.00am start really means, "I'll get there when I'm finished my Maccas and because the club members are nice they'll wait while I have another one". Finally kicked off at 11am. First run was 9.099, with a 1.946 60ft. I very rarely crack sub 2.00sec 60fts at Gunnedah because of the race surface so it was a good start. Second run was 8.961, 1.976 - 60ft. weird but I'll take it. Third was 8.90 , 1.920- 60ft. Holy snapping duck-shit Batman, who put a rocket up it's bum? I haven't run since March and only freshened the fuel before going. The upshot of the day was 4 runs , 4 wins. Saturday are practice runs, Sunday qualifying, then eliminations.
The purple ute is a Chev v8 Holden. I love showing the late models up. Same run but filmed by my wife.
Sunday was a slight breeze and sunny. Three qualifying runs then eliminations. First run 9.091 Second 8.979 Third 9.064 First elimination 9.180 with a 8.96 dial- backed off. Second elimination 9.185- did it again, forgot to allow for the cooling track, too much wheel-spin. Got beaten by 0.116. Dang, back on the trailer.
Great to see, especially the blast past both the latemodel gizmo's, very cool. do you normally get more than three runs-a-day? didn't the guys use the drive-thru at McD's? Cheers, Drewfus
On a good Saturday when all the planets are aligned and racers turn up on time you can get six runs easily. On Sundays I've got 4 qualifying runs in before eliminations. If you get through to the final that will be another 4 runs. Not too shabby I'd say.
sounds like a good bundle of fun, sadly after the events of that little storm we had, cars have been the last thing on the list of priorities of late, so sorry we didn't get to come up. It's turn will come, just don't know when at the moment. Cheers, Drewfus
