My neighbour bought his son a new Charger. Kid drove it for about 4 months.

My daughter was going to catch a ride home from school with him but he was a dick and said no.

She caught a ride with her friend who drives a beat up older Explorer which he paid for himself.

On the way home they were following mister spoiled brat in his fast car.

Said spoiled brat decided to show off to his buddies in the car as to how well it would handle around a corner.

Took a 90 degree left turn into the nighbourhood, rolled the car several times, all 4 kids in the car went to the hospital, car was totaled.

Kid rides his bike now and I am happy my daughter didn't ride home with him.

Who cares how fast the little nutter's car is, doesn't make him any better than you and I would bet he can't even check his own oil anyway.

You have your whole life in front of you kid. Take your time and build yourself something to set you apart from the rest, if it is faster then so be it ............ If I could do it surely you can

3906lb --------Full interior, mufflers and a big ass grandpa car ...... They never see it coming ;) plus it will be far more rewarding in the end

Nothing wrong with deriving a performance target from some real-world situation, if that situation is exemplary and nothing more. But it comes down to a project design from scratch - even if it's based around the car and even the engine you've got - and that wants going about methodically.

Ok so I'm thinking edelbrock's performer setup, good from idle -5,500 which is about as fast as I wanna spin it, with maybe a shot of nitrous?

First call the local PD and tell them there's been races on that road with a reckless mustang then pull the light trick. Watch how fast he gets a ticket and daddy will take the mustang away lol

NOPE, you're thinking of drag racing.....I personally don't care if some new off the lot cars can beat mine in a race, it doesn't matter, my car is still cooler than their car anyday. I bet they don't have people asking to buy theirs everytime it's out and about...why should they, anybody can get one from any dealership.

Its not worth getting all worked up about it and like what has been said the brat probably wont have the car very long and will be in a salvage yard in a mangled mess, now with that said in the mid 80s I was blowing away almost new corvettes with a 53 Olds built with junkyard parts. Put a 59 or 60 Olds 371 in your 56 and you should be able to give the spoiled brat a good run and not have to spend any money building it up,thats what I had in the 53 and only change was a 4 bbl from a 394 and I had fun walking away from 350 powered cars in my big barge.

I guess Gasoline Junkie was expecting a flood of advice for bolt-ons that would make his '56 Chevy blow away a new Mustang.

Instead he got a flood of advice on not killing himself trying. This is a great place.

Entertaining thread :D Being an old buzzard that had a lot of old mid 60's early 70's "performance toys" you must watch out for a lot of the new tech thats out there !! 5.0 I think will kick your butt very easy unless ya do a LOT of mods. Also practice at the drags getting the car out of the hole. GOOD LUCK
