im having a time getting a alternator installed in my T with sbc and a 671 running into Clerance issue. have the mounting kit from speedway for lower on drivers' side but having interference with frame and alternator. hoping someone had the issue and figured it . thank you
I ran that bracket in my last 29, the frame was 2X3, I had to cut a piece out for alternator clearance, flipped it over, and welded it back in.
More likely your will have to fabricate, Mount the Alternator on driver or passager side between blower & valve cover ( big GM ), I made my own to mount low & under ( mini )
what do you think of this set up GM Denso Style 1-Wire Mini Race Alternator Kit, 90A, Low Mount (speedwaymotors.com)
I'd have to find my bill but I'm pretty sure this is the one I have or similar. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/153482135028 With this bracket. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Small-Block-Chevy-Lower-Alternator-Bracket-Plain,35790.html The speedway alternator has better output but my A is basic with no heater and vacuum wiper. The frame rails @ the front of the engine on my T are a touch over 20" apart . I made a low mount alternator bracket for the passenger side that has worked fine for 22 years & 50k miles. I'll see if I can remember to get pics tomorrow
I made my own out of various factory parts that I modified, I wanted the low mount but my steering box is in the way.
this mini bracket and alternator work out well. had to modify the bracket but took few minutes to do. top bolt fit but bottom short so cut the bracket not all the way but enough to line up bottom bolt ran it thru and welded up the difference few minutes work. thanks for all the help and input.
