H.A.M.B. drags: Cruisin' or just racin' ?

Discussion in 'H.A.M.B. Drag Nationals' started by 59IMPALER, Feb 28, 2010.

  1. Does a gathering of rods and customs figure into this weekend, or is it just racing and race cars? I would drive my chopped '53 if there was anything going on before/during/after the races that involved hangin' out with folks that drove their old cars there.

Usually a bunch of guys and gals go to the Springfield Swap on Friday, Party at the host Hotel/Motel that night, racing on Saturday and lots of hanging out going on then as well, then some do the Hotel/Motel Saturday night. Its a great time and well worth the drive!

I haven't been to the hotel, but there has been a huge number of great cars and great people at the HAMB Drags I've been to.

Ha, just past the grey coupe with the flatmotor, you can see the air cleaner and grille shell on my roadster...

I agree, you won't be disapointed. Friday night is a blast, there are cars all over Joplin Mo cruising around and in the parking lot. Hell, you can "cruise" up and down the pits all day long on Saturday at the races.

Seemed like people made "the drag" around the parking lot last year. Damn I can wait!!! And PLOWBOY making laps on the 2 seat bicycle was amusing. My kids kept wanting to see him jump the ramp though. THis whole weekend is about old cars. I honestly dont pay that much attention to the actual drag racing but for short periods. Just to much stuff to take in!!

I normally try to make one or two passes, but don't have a serious race car or truck by any means. If you want to run, fine, if you don't, don't. It is all a blast and Friday night is a "Must Do".

Can't wait to get to the friday night party, liked the new event last year. The minbike sparking after dark in the parking lot of the motel. Plus the best car show around and no plastic cars built from mail order catalogs.

  13. Yep, lots of cool cars to look at...guys and gals to talk with, both Fri and
    Sat nights.

Here's a small parking lot shot from 2006.....

I have some Moonshine with your name on it. I'm hanging with you guys this year. I have to teach the Beck boys how it's done. Keith
