    Hi,

I have been following along on this board for about a year now, and am pretty familiar with the way things work around here. Like most HAMBers, I believe I share the same love for vehicles and all things mechanical.

My name is Danny. I am currently a mechanical engineering student at California State University. At this time, I am working on getting my 1956 Buick Special running. This is a car that I have always loved, and spent a couple of years searching for. Also, it is the second car I have done significant work on, the first was a 1970 VW type 1 restoration.

I am basically learning as I go along. I pulled my first motor out this past weekend (I dont count taking out a VW bug motor), and was surprised at how relatively easy it was. The main goal right now is to just drive her, I've been sitting in a non-running car in my garage for way too long now.

That's a cool car and very interesting scooter. Is that a can of ether rigged up to it? Do you use that for easier starting or to give it a little boost while you're riding (who needs "NOS" )? Keep up the schooling.

lol. I made the whole thing out of chopped up Honda Aero 50, with an oil injected engine. Its actually an octane booster bottle with Nos***** on it. The original oil tank was a plastic unit under the seat. The gas tank is from a yamaha motorcycle, foot rests from a harley, seat is a schwinn, tail light is harley I think, and brake pedal is homemade. I made alot of motorcycle swapmeet trips.

New paint for the tank, but when I sprayed the clear it wrinkled up. Oh well, gonna us it as is anyway

she rides great, alot smoother than I expected. I mostly cruise around my neighborhood and surrounding streets, great for liquor store runs.

Its a kick-ass feeling to drive around on something that you thought for hours about, had dreams at night of, and layed some of your first welds on... I sure hope it stays together
