Been here years, lurking, learning, and laughing at some of the clowns on here that like to talk shit every chance they get. Didn't post much mainly because I didn't have a HAMB friendly car, had a bad transaction with a HAMBer not following thru on a transaction, and having three kids all under three keept me busy too. But, I picked up a Desoto Hemi a couple years ago, just purchased a 50 Plymouth Suburban right here off the board, and plan to get on it in 2011...need a family hauler. Lots of knowledge here, hoping to soak up as much as I can.
well im just a FNG that payed the money. i have looked at threads on there for a long time figured i should join and support. i like the good info on here and i don't realy care if anyone talks to me or not......i'll put my 2 cents in here and there tho ...im sure.....kinda like this
OK, very seldom post, because I have little to add. Here is the most recent progress on my project, which is a long time in coming. My plan is to have the car driving this spring.
I stumbled across the HAMB a couple of years ago,,I had just bought a Desoto 291 Hemi and thought I would try to find some info about them. The usual places,,hotheads and other sites,,,,finally google pulled up the Hamb,,I never knew any place like this existed. I come here every day,,just to see the vast experience and knowledge of these guys,,,it never ceases to amaze me. No matter what it is,,there is someone here that can answer your question about a car. I plan on working on the Desoto when I can get more money and the economy is better. Also,,,,and I never thought I would say this,,,,I want to get a flathead and build it someday,,they seem so cool ! Thanks to Ryan and the rest of the guys here for a great place to come and hang out! Tommy
Hell let 'em get their panties in a bunch. Its good for 'em. BTW I'm starting to like your Ol lady already.
read a ton, but rarely post. don't know enough about this stuff yet. if anyone talks saltwater fishing, surfing, surfboards, structural engineering i will throw in my knowledge. until then, just soaking it all up like a sponge. ________ BoomChix
If you look at the members lists, there's HUNDREDS of guys who just read or sell parts, and don't post. I browsed around for almost a year before ever posting anything. 90% of my posts are pic's.
I have noticed durning the HUGE influx of member's the last 2yrs, we seemed to 'ave lost some of the faithful of Europe.
i felt exactly like you to begin with, now i'm kinda gettin into posting on here. i too have taken a "break" on old cars but now am wanting to get one again and start a build thread myself, so if i can do it you can too ! theres tons of knowledge on here use it up.
I read much much more than I post. HAMB is great, specially for us from overseas living in the hot rod desert!! And thanks to the Alliance the membership is more than free...
Its quite a drive but if she's crazy and can cook I'll plan on stopping by for dinner. Aside from the missus one of my favorite women in the entire world knocked me out of a chair for complaining about food, then slapped me again because I said it was actually all right. Now that's bongos. Well has nothing to do with the thread but I did just come one post closer to being honest. BTW I did refuse to sell a part to a fella who low balled me on it once. it was his first post and he had joined that same day. He got all pissy and said he was honest because he bought parts from one of the other fellas before. So I told him to have that fella buy the parts from me and sell them to him. I did contact the fella in question he had never herd of the new guy. Thats no reflection on the low post fellas just wanted to add something that had something to do with the thread. But ya just never know, posting isn't what makes you honest and that's the bottom line.
She is 1/2 Hispanic. She can throw a meal together just fine so come on over. I'm done pirating the thread now. Sorry fellers.
I have been on here going on 8 years now. Hardly ever post. I've always been taught that it is hard to learn and listen with your jaw flapping all the time. "Wise men talk because they have something to say fools talk because they have to say something."
Go NADS! When I first joined the HAMB I didnt like being a FNG. Must be from being in my low 60s. I found out that if I posted 100 times I could be a newbie. That didnt sound much better so I paid the coinage and became an Alliance Member. Now I get all of the deals that Ryan offers and a little discount from alliance sellers. Win win situation. Still learning at 64.
Me too. Joined almost 5 years ago and never said a word. Just go my car going again and now I never sut up. Post do not = honestey. Intergrety = honesty. Just my .02
Lots of quotes and cliches posted here but I also feel like, you get out of something what you put into it. I read this site everyday now that I am retired because it gives me great enjoyment and a sense of belonging with others who have the same passion I do for hot rods. Just my outside observation on people who have a propensity to ridicule, condemn or shame others, better known as flaming, if you check their posts many times that is pretty much all they have to contribute, so why worry about them.
I'm old and retired and have been an unrepentive Hot Rodder since I first struct an arc when I was about ten years old. I grew up in an era where you either made your own parts or found junk yard stuff that you could make work. Today you can open catalogs or go to websites and armed only with a credit card you can build or buy a complete car. I start my morning by logging on to check E-mail then check out the latest Craigs List offerings then log on to the HAMB to see what's new. I follow several threads and feel that I have gotten to know some people just through their posts. Likewise I wonder how some people are too arrogant or stupid to deserve life on this Earth.
I've been reading on here for the past year, and finally signed up in September. Since then, I've been reading almost daily, and even subscribed to a few threads... Whenever I have a question about something, I hit the 'Search' feature. Chances are there's a topic about it. No use posting a duplicate thread/topic (and getting flamed for not searching)... BadBob - Nice avatar pic!
I'm a reader not a poster but I'm very honest just ask me. In the time it takes me to write this I could have read an other thread, hell maybe two. I would like to have posted 2000 times but my master said I must first snatch the pebble from his hand, then wax his ratrod.
I'm really an old motorcycle guy who happens to be interested in old cars also. I come here to read about and admire others projects. I have a 58 fairlane that I traded one of my old bikes for recently and I've been coming here to look for and read info on 60's era customs. I lurked here for years before signing up, didnt feel like getting flamed by the "ol school hambers that used to be here. Who knows maybe now that I have an on topic vehicle maybe I'll get more involved, chances are I'll probly just keep quietly creeping.
The HAMB is addicting. My wife has facebook and I got the HAMB. I get so pumped up on here I go out to the garage and accomplish things I didn't think I would ever do. I have to save pages so I don't loose them or copy and past so when I go out to the garage I can take it one step at a time. I don't know jack about jack. I've always been into hot rods vintage cars since I was a kid, guess I got the thirst from my dad. I post picks mostly of what I'm doing with a couple of questions behind them to get my point across, hoping someone will come and tell me where I'm screwed up at. For the most part I just figure stuff out on my own until I get stumped. There is really a great group of humble rodders in here and there's also your great group of A-holes but mommy and daddy didn't raise them right or they're just internet tough guys. I've met a lot HAMBers on here and at swap meets that I'll always be friends with and count on. Side note, I can't wait to retire like some of you so that I can build rods full time. Dagg on fellas my blood octane levels are high.
