That's just what people said about hot rodders back when. How ironic that a hot rodder would be using it today?

When I was a kid, Mom and Dad let me invite friends over and never tried to hand pick them for me.

The rule was however, I was responsible for my friends when they were at my house. They screwed up, I took the heat.

At the drags I have seen over the years buddies quitely ****** a partied out friend to the room, without incident and without bringing attention to the situation.

It's pretty simple, When you bring someone into someone elses house, It's your responsibility to make sure they behave within the parameters of the event.

I personally think this bunch does a hell of a good job of that.

    Kudos to all.

Sounds like a great job for security that should be provided by the person putting on the event. Anyone and everyone getting involved can and will make matters worse.

I remember car show, "Street Rod" events that ALWAYS had "NO VWs OR MINI TRUCKS ALLOWED" on the fliers.
    Ya know why?
It's not because the promotors had anything against the cars. It was because ENOUGH of the OWNERS of those kinds of cars and trucks acted like ***holes where ever they went that the entire group got banned from "nice" car functions.

Call the police when there's troublemakers?
The usual police response to being called to deal with trouble at any highly populated event is to FIRST declare the entire event an ILLEGAL ***EMBLY and order EVERYONE to disperse, and about two minutes later start clubbing every head still in sight.
I know, I've been there, like at the John Mayall Blues concert on Venice Beach, PAlm Sunday '68 when the LA Metro goons gave about 300,000 people only 90 ****ing seconds to clear the beach before they went clubbing.
Ya want that happening a****st all the fine cars?

On the other hand, "self policing" would eventually end up with Rolling Stones Altamont concert situations.

No, The FEW have SPOILED IT for the many, AGAIN.
The cl*** clown made the teacher hold the whole innocen rest of the cl*** in for detention, again!.
I can't say I'm surprised either, saw it coming for years with the "I'm a hard ***/punk/drunk/greaser!" 'tudes so many guys think they have to have to play the "role".

"NO VWs, MINI TRUCKS, or RAT RODS ALLOWED" will be showing up on all the show fliers again...

    Yea, it's too bad.
Some people had fun while it lasted.

Now, where did I put that bumper cry baby doll pattern...

Am I the only guy who did not see any 3-patch motorcycle members at Paso. May this city council guy been referring to the MID STATE BIKE RALLY, that got canceled for this reason. I hate stereotyping of people and this thread leans a long those lines, bad people are bad and we ought to avoid them and as said before trying to police them ourselves could prove to be dangerous to our health. There were places and times ( after hours) at Paso and VLV that we should not attend, so we don't encourage that type of behavior. Respect the city and townspeople, if our vehicles have loud whatever turn it down a notch. Respect!!!! basic not everyone likes to be awake at 2 in the morning to loud music, drunk people and loud cars, remember we are in there town, they will draw a line and I think they have.

Carlisle has had it's share of issues, main problem no camping anymore "to keep the issues contained", a few ruining it for the rest.
bottom line drunk and stupid is not and should not be acceptable

why no issues at pigeon forge, i think it has a lot to do with the locals.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The HAMB is a great place and 'car' people in general are good people. However, they are really nothing more than a small cross section of the overall population. There are a certain percentage of *** bags in the world who act out and do stupid stuff. Likewise, there is a certain percentage of car people who are ***bags and act out and do stupid stuff. As far as how to handle it, I guess if you feel safe enough doing it you try to talk to the jerk in question and see if you can talk sense. If you don't think you should get involved or the person is too thick headed to listen, then you call the police.

    I see two problems.
One, Alcohol is pretty much the primary cause of what you guys are dealing with. I have not been to any of these shows yet, so I have no first hand info here. Is it pretty much a "drink what ya brung" setup or is the booze sold there? Seems if you control the juice, you control the ***hats causing the trouble. That is a show organizer thing IMO. I've been in the "drunk" control crowd before and also work security (armed-body guard) at concerts. I wouldn't mess with anyone other than a friend if he were drunk. I've seen too many mean drunks that don't take kindly to a stranger telling them to settle down. Isn't there a security company at these things to take care of the pukes? That would be my first recommendation to the show organizer. City councils like security companies, it keeps the cops ot down.

    Two,
Cars/trucks that shouldn't be there. That one is a pretty simple fix, unless the organizer is needing the income. But, by the looks of the attendance, turning away 20 or 30 cars (or more) isn't an issue.

Hire the Hells Angels to go around and "POLICE" the thing.

Seriously, people just need to learn how to act. You can't control people, thats life.

I don't smoke dope, but a local motorcycle rally sure can be interesting... Held on private property, with their own security, pretty much anything goes, as long as it's not interfering with anyone else. Bare natural ***ties, as well as a few enhanced ones are always out enjoying some sunlight.

I probably could locate a link to a really nice pair, but nobody would want to see that here...

You might be amazed at how well something along those lines really works out. A different club, but they've ran security at a local event for many years. I've seen how well they can control a problem that has potential to get real ugly. A few of these guys can make a drunk with a knife sober up very quick, and without any fight or threats.

While I agree with all yous guys about self policing, I must say, things have really calmed down in the last year and a half around OC. Alot less fights, but then again, alot less greasers. Alot more true-to-their-roots folks these days, which I like alot. In my opinion, alot of the jack***ery is from people who are at car shows that have never worked on a car, and use a show as just another excuse to party. Those people need to stay home.

nothing wrong with watching and seeing who is being an *** and letting them know it should stop.
We are all adults- you wanna go play with the car - find the right time and place for what you wanna do.

  26. Well after reading all the posts, it nice to see that us gearheads Down Under don't haveclaim to ALL the ****wits in this world dumped on OUR events.

I cant tell ya'all how many killer cruise nites/events here have been screwed by these *****s who own POS cars or no cars.....and are usually fueled by booze.

That being said we live in a state where the the cops can impound your car IF they suspect you have "misbenhaving" thanx to these imbeciles.

The point is, alcohol has a lot to do with this, as does setting/policing some rules re what/who gets in to an event and who does not.

I hope the Paso event reloctates to Santa Maria successfully and the VLV issues get sorted....

Ya gotta take a hard line or risk losing really good events......don't ask me how I know.

We just wrapped up our car show... we were just shy of 2200 cars... no major issues. I go to a lot of other shows with 200-700 cars... no major issues...

I think the best solution is dealing with things quickly before they turn into issues... If someone is acting like an ***... step in & get them out of there.

Anyone here ever attend a function put on by a 1% bike club? No fights, and if somebody's acting stupid they get tossed.People that were too drunk to operate a motor vehicle weren't allowed to leave until they sobered up or somebody sober could give them a lift. I'm sure there are exceptions but that's been my experience.
