I've seen the T-bird show, the 442 show, the Galaxie and the '55 f100. (I guess I keep hoping for something that this show is not going to be...) The work they did was terrible. On the F100 there was an engine setting out in the open (an old Y-block I guess), they picked that engine to use. Managed to get it running and tossed it in the truck! There! a mechanically restored truck! OMG!

The t-bird's paint would make a Maco job look sweet! The door bottoms on the 442 were bondo wavy and the door gaps huge! The bed of the F100 had a piece of angle iron in the bed on the drivers side filling a hole, the bed was full of dents, the back of the cab under the window was rippled etc etc!

You get about 7 minutes of car stuff and the rest is just nonsense...

The only good car resto show I ever saw was 30 years ago on PBS when the did a 65 Mustang step by step.

It's too bad the show is such ****. I've walked through both of their salvage yards and they are loaded with cool old parts cars. Why can't they make a show about that? Not enough silly, manufactured drama that way, perhaps?

These guys have the IQ of lint. On the latest show they put the sawblade in backwards and thought it was too dull to cut hardwood.

I tried watching it, the 55 Ford episode. I really wanted to like it. Lasted 10 minutes max and decided that going to bed was a better idea.

The acting ****s, and so does their build quality, but it is cool that they are putting these old cars back on the road insead of cutting them up, crushing them, or letting them sit and rot until there's nothing good left. We have a yard here full of 50's cars that the owner won't sell any of the parts from because they are complete. You can walk up to any one of them and poke your finger through the fender because he left them sit out for so many years, they're all mush.

When I see a show like this I start thinking I might be doing something right, then they show the guys doing the work and I say, Oh f&ck. I laughed my *** off when they sold the T bird at a loss, I changed the station when the guy applauded the 400 M engine as period correct. When I saw the guy with the 227 coupe I wondered how they baited this poor guy into coming on the show, the poor guy looked like he was searching for the free bar with the all you can eat crab legs and lone stars. I'm sure he watched that episode and said, Oh F&ck as well. Hope they gave you a lunch and a few cold long necks for it.

Nope! No free lunch, and no explanation of what we were doing out there that day! Worse of all - no beer! Most everybody knows the 227 bullet hole coupe guy... My good buddy Hot Rod Ron from here on the H.A.M.B. He literally went out there to find a rear for his El Portal coupe project and was asked if they could follow him around a bit, and maybe for some background stuff... End of story. No "we're going to use this on this show at this time" kinda' stuff. Just sort of a weird deal all the way around. I was watching that Sat. just because I was told they used the footage they shot while we were up there that particular episode. Was a bit curious as to what I was involved with. End of story. And Ya, the 400M **** along with the '75 El Camino stuff did me in too!

Oh yeah that was goofy, They kept talking about the 62 galaxie and showing all of the pics of the 65 66 malibu's. Then they go see the guy with the 74 Ranchero, and call it an El Co. Hot Rod Ron was the best part of that episode. I think that ****s, you don't get lunch or anything. It's not like they are filming the news. Bummer.

Cool that you guys were on TV. The show is ok, not great, but there are definately worse "car" shows on. It really bugged me when they did the F100 and said they started using wood in the bed in WWII because of metal shortages

  15. on a positive: I really digged that '56 Buick that was on this weeks episode...is that guy on here or anyone have picts of it?

they ran an ad for that 62 galaxie they did locally here and in all 3 ads they spelled it "GALAXY", you should probably know how to spell what you're selling. now i have to rewatch that fabulous show to check out your car, even if it's on cops its still cool if your car ends up on tv.

I was put in touch with the producer of that show to use my car. They were looking for a story where somebody finds this perfect missing piece to finish their car. Trouble is I have access to every Kaiser part I need, and they have one Kaiser parts car, in another city. So I go down there to feel it out, and see if they have any parts I could use. Long story short, I find out they still want to charge me TOP DOLLAR for parts I don't even need, for the honor of being on their show. No thanks bud.

Yes I fully admitt the show is total ****...you would think the first time they did a car and barely broke even the old man would pull the plug on that **** show!! I'll never believe they buy some of those cars for so cheap! Not to mention why the "f" would you ever go buy another car when you have thousands of them in the yard that are perfectly rebuildable???

That being said I've bought parts from them in the past they really bailed me out on some suspension parts for a 66 Impala on short notice, I wouldn't say the cut me any real deal but they had it and shipped it quick!

Oh and congrats...Now I'm gonna have to wait for the re-run so I can check it out!

I am sure they get subsidized from the show or there would be no way they could stay in business.

I'm sure they're making buck$ from the production of the show, but DVAP is a huge company that does more then well enough without any external silliness like this deal. That's what is making most of us locally kinda nuts... The big WHY? question.

    CONGRATS!!!
It's always cool to see ourselves and cars on the tube. I am certainly no glory hound, but the few vidoes of my car that I know of have a bad habit of mezmorising me!

The episode with the Studebaker was a real dissapointment, when they stuck that old "Field" engine in a restored car. I would not trust their brakes either. They get the low bids they deserve.

Just think, if they just hired that shop supervisor guy with the tatoos, who did they have before that, probably some one who couldn't read a telepropmter:eek:

cool your movie debut Hollywood is next :D

as far as Desert Car Kings goes well i question there choices of cars sometimes not all of them are bad choices

one thing that gets me is the swirls in the buffing jobs if you selling a car for good money make it look good

the 50 Caddy 4 door the paint on the valve covers ****ed you would think blast them and spray'em how hards that

the rattle snake thing with all those rattlers in one spot give me a break and other staged things
of course it's another deadline show

quick scans of the yard that ****s you would think if you want to sell parts show your cars at least

i agree profit? it's not there at least with the figures there using
the profit is in the checks they get from the cable company

then there's Overhaulin once they dropped the stolen car **** and all the bs
and just built the car it's a much better
just like the guy said when they did his 50 Ford 2 door sedan
"I would of liked to been part of the build"

EEERRRR,AAAAHHHH - I hate to defend this show, and I didn't see the whole rattle snake bit, but I have seen it on commercials and that is not too far exagerated from real life around here. We have hundreds of people snake bitten in the Phoenix area every year, and a large batch of them happen in wrecking yard situations... Been there done that myself! You get real careful opening hoods 'round about April in these parts.

    Hay watch it dude !

I was trying to drill a hole with my 3/8 drill and it wouldn't cut for ****, so naturally I gave my kid hell for ruining my bits.
He went out to the shop and 2 minutes later was in the house and told me the bit is fine , he finished the hole .

I asked him how in the hell did you do that?

"Ya gotta have the drill turning the right way".

    Duhhhh.
