If you own a HAMB style Dragster the Eagle Field Drags is the Biggest Gathering on the west coast and 2nd only to our SDRA friends in the USA (I believe). The Eagle Field line up includes the QUICKEST HA/GR Car anywhere of Joe Roseberry, The Godfather himself Dick Sappington.....AKA Old6, The Coolest Jeanna Wallace and her "Little Car" (I'm Biased), the Most Basic and truest entry of Cullens and Evans....known as the Gorilla Trap and the HARD Charging Mid engine Jimmy entry of Les Gomes. Last May, Walt Skoczylas hauled from Oregon his "Casual Six" NW Dragster and I believe put his car across the strip in front of Joe each time, I believe Joe will be ready for the OPEN Show on Sunday just in case my friend Walt (or any other Quick Hamb style) car shows up. I will make up awards for all HAMB Style Cars that show up, SDRA, NW, or ??? if I know your coming on Saturday, the format is simple, run all day and your group decides the winner. Sunday will have only one award, TOP GAS RAIL! So if you own one of these cars you'll want to "BE THERE"!
Should be 5 HA/GRS.....2 Days of Racing...............Bring those SDRA and NW Cars and lets have a shootout!

Rocky, thanks for promoting the 3 groups of HAMB style cars we have running. I think you will see more cars at Eagle Field next year. Could be 5 HA/GR -- 5 SDRA -- 2 or 3 NW Dragsters at your May opener for an "all in" shootout. Working hard to get the cars lined up. Working hard to get my mini mouse 6 done for your Oct race.
Cool Old28! We need to get these cars all together, show people the LowBuck opportunity they offer and get more on the TRACK, lets WAKE the sleeping GIANT
Don't miss being started by the BEST in the BUSINESS, How many of you say "Man I wish I would of"? The TIME is NOW! PLUS Electronic Starts on SUNDAY.
We all hope you have your HA/GR ( Modified ) out at the track next season to have some fun with the group. 6 or 7 HA/GR in one place, bet old6 would be happy with the results. It should cool off in another month so you can get back in the shop and get her done.
Half a dozen HAMBsters of all classes together at a left coast meet? Hell, "Happy" couldn't even scratch the surface of my grinnit. It'd take all seven of'em & her as well, just to block the glare. It'd be really nice to have more of your SDRA & NWVD cars to try to catch, and to get to meet some more of you guys. If you're all as cool as Walt, we'll have a great get together Saturday night at the hangar party (I'll assume you guys party. ).
Well old6 you told me years ago that if I built one (SDRA HAMBster) that it would catch on and I think 3 cars running and 2 ready for next season seals the deal and that's just out west. Add to that 6-7 HA/GR & HA/MGR plus 2-3 NW Vintage Dragsters and we might have a 14 car field at the Eagle Field Opener next year. I for one think it will happen and I plan on doing a lot of calling, PM, emailing in the next few months to keep the ball rolling. I know Rocky is on-board for this happening. PM me (old28) any time here on the site or call Tom cell (661)859-8955
The Silver Chevy car was the one that Dick let some lunatic AUSSIE play with. Maybe next year if the wind is right and all the stars align we might be able to get the OBFB Car over for a run at The Field. we'll have to wait and see. Nigel.
Rocky -- Ya that's my old buddy (ThingyM) hot rod. If he would get off the dime that new 300" Ford would be ready for the Oct races. It ain't 100+ in his shop. Looking into the future I see that we could have two races with-in a race (6 or 7 HA/GR w/one winner) & (7 or 8 SDRA/NWVD w/one winner) then pair the two class winners for a "TOP HAMBster Trophy". I am sure that is a vision both you and "old6" would love to see played out. Nigel -- I think I read some where that this coming year we will have mild winds and real good star alignments. A trip to Eagle Field will check off one of your bucket list items, sure hope you can make it. It would add an international flare to the race.
All I can say is that I'll be giving up a meet at the strip with the most beautiful return road ever in order to race at the one with the most perfect "Wayback Machine" yet. Yep, much as I like Barona's antique meets, they make a mistake scheduling against Rocky's flag start memory makers. Win, lose, or draw, for me there's flat out no better way to enjoy the game.
I'm with you on that one old6, they need to find some other dates so we can enjoy both places now & then. So, old6 what do you think about a dream I had for the May 2014 race at Eagle Field. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Looking into the future I see that we could have two races with-in a race (6 or 7 HA/GR w/one winner) & (7 or 8 SDRA/NWVD w/one winner) then pair the two class winners for a "TOP HAMBster Trophy". I am sure that is a vision both You and Rocky would love to see played out. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm fairly sure this would be the biggest gathering of HAMBster's in one place sense the two classes were started and all played out at Eagle Field with Flag Starts. I don't think it gets any better than this.
My "paroxysms of elation" line wasn't much of an over statement, you'd be hard pressed to remove the smile from my face in such an event. Likely for some time as well.
just finished my rail job, looking to bring it up there, is there Friday camping? or gates open Friday at all? thanks
Gate opens Friday the 4th 12pm, camp for free after paying 2 day general admission. See eaglefielddrags.com for pre registration savings. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Yes, a beautiful digger. Someday Minnesota will be the West Coast. Til then you'll have to carry on without me.
Getting my "stuff" together for next weekend's ANRA meet at Bako. Also already organizing my "stuff" for October's "Eagle" as well. Working on a couple fun surprises for it, 'nuff said. Gonna have to write a song; "Eagle Frame of Mind", or some such.
I spoke with Walt, Scott and Jim @ Billetproof in WA and as many as 4 NW Cars are making the TRIP! If you have one of these cars you need to join us..............the Myans may have been off by a year
