Some of you guys are too much! **** work is **** work. This is not **** work. It could have been done with more style, it could have been way over built to hold up a tank. It is neither of those. It is completely serviceable work and barring that one stray metric bolt seems like you got exactly what you paid for.
There is a time for artistic flair, and a time to build something bomb proof, but there is no reason to scare a guy into thinking he spent hard earned cash to get **** work done that needs to be re-done.
It makes me wonder how many projects will never make it to the street because every. single. detail. has. to. be. "perfect".

  2. Lots of crazy stuff like that on cars.
My most personally perplexing is the 3/8 bolts in transverse spring shackles.

I'd say not knowing when enough is enough is a bigger problem keeping cars off the road.
Asking for opinions on here has always been risky business at best. This is a perfect example why

  4. Where then should the mid mount go?
Where is the weight of the engine now if it's not on being carried by the front crossmember ?

I wouldn't want to take my car to a place where the popular opinion of the work is that "it should work OK". maybe not under engineered, but none of that would be the way I would have done it. I prefer over engineered.

Trans mount NEED's to be addressed,
    Grade 5 or higher ,
I would have used thicker plate for that design,
    If I would have built /designed ,
I would have used a Engine front plat & Mid plate ,

The engine mounts are fine, and so is the trans mount (it's just not pretty); just not as much thought went into the trans mount as the engine mounting. IF it bothers you, then re-make the trans mount. Several guys have brought up a front plate; on an Oldsmobile engine, that is not going to be an easy task at all, and probably not something that is really any better than what you currently have. Putting a SBC/BBC in the car may have been easier, but keeping your car ALL Oldsmobile is the right thing to do. Keep posting your build. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
