The wife's eagle died. Don't know what we are going to do for her transportation, we work in opposite directions. It overheated, started making noises, lost power and caught fire (quickly put out by a garden hose, but the engine is toast ) The lack of funds really now puts us in a bind, actually way beyond a bind....... Hope ya'll had a better day

Shit, in the past three years I've sold or JUNKED beaters that ran and drove fine for under $100 each just because I had no use for them!

The last one, an Oldsmobile, still runs through the neighborhood delivering pizzas...serving it's new owner quite well!

Wish you lived a little closer or could travel...we could hook you right up at Honest Hack's Used Cars and Motorbikes!!!! I'm sure I could score ya some wheels for under two hundred bucks!

Drop a PM if you want me to look around here for ya!

  7. Yeah its all over man- we all have those days too- Id suggest the next [wife's] driver be more mainstream [than the eagle]-.....you know Gm Ford toyota etc-[something still produced]easier and cheaper to fix.

sorry to hear about the car...i know it's no fun being 1 car short, the wife and i had to carpool when she totalled her truck, spent a month or so saking her to work early and going in late myself...will insurance do anything for you since it caught fire and all???if not, if you know someone who owns a salvage yard that can make the car dissappear while you report it missing, that might be another solution although not a quick fix. good luck.

Sounds like you'll prolly have to do what 99% of all us do...go to the damn bank for a loan to get the little woman a late model, reliable daily driver. May I suggest a nice pickup? I know my ol' lady wouldn't drive one but if the only other car you have is a 56 chevy, a pickup might be the way to go. A van is good too. I couldn't live without a van or pickup to haul stuff automotive and household stuff with.
Bite the bullet and go for a loan..

I haven't heard anything on the Laser my buddy has. A loan would be great, but 2 things stop us. If we actually pay rent like we are suppose to, we would be in the hole by a couple hundred. Right now we are just breaking even. That and we recently filed Chapter 7. Boy....my life is just a bowl of fun [IMG]

  12. Just do as I do in this situation Classy'........I look around me at the people who have even more "trouble" than I do,and then I feel like I aint sp bad off as I thiought I was! this sounds silly -but if you practice it it does give you some perspective that will allow you to feel better about your own situation and you'll be able to go ahead......

You are not alone. Last week the girls car broke. It is
beond reair. The car is a 1988 325i BMW. Her dad got it for her less then a year ago. The car has over 225k. We
have already replaced all the brakes struts and misc... parts. We are pretty screwed. But I'm not going to let
it bring me down. Things will get better. Just think positive!

It would cut off 2 or 4 cyl. to increase fuel economy. Work as bad as it sounds!

I've liked that style since I saw Goodfellas, I can't explain it, but I do like them.
