get back from lunch and see two hot rods parked in the lot. see that one of them, a black A-V8 highboy on bias plies, has a Yuengling bottle opener mounted to the frame and a HAMB sticker in the upper corner of the windshield. alright, where is this guy? the other, a black channeled A roadster with some excellent fenders, is equally cool. run upstairs, grab the camera, and on the way back out to see the rods, find out the HAMBster who runs the highboy is AV8Paul and the other fella is his buddy Roger. Grabbed a few quick pics: Chatted with the two for a while. I really dug Paul's rod - to me, it defines traditional hot rod - and enjoyed the chance to meet another East Coast HAMBer, but Roger's rod had a real cool story - he built it in 1957, s***ched the top himself using material from a junkyard Olds convertible, runs a 1956 Chevy 265 and dated his current wife in it before parking it to drive his then-new 1964 GTO. He held onto the rod, though, and put it on the street a few years ago, in about the exact same form. Too cool. dan
Guess they were heading back from the reliability run. You work at Hemmings or was this just a real chance encounter? Dennis
Great looking rides! Refreshing to see nice traditional rods that have nice paint, and less the gaudy ****, I'll let the bottle opener slide this once
Foul, It was great meeting you this afternoon. We really had a great trip back from the reliability run. I finally made it back to the Cape around 8:30PM. It was a long day, but it was loaded with smiles and thumbs-up.
Paul- Glad to hear you made it back alright. Guess it's too late now, but I hope you don't mind me posting pics. I just thought it was too cool. Dennis- ding ding ding. dan
Dan, No problem posting pictures. I'll have many to post from the "run" tomorrow. I'm too beat up to post them tonight. Later.
