I looked in my "Aussie Slang" book, but to no avail. I patiently waited for more posts. I had a hunch it was slang for "bacon butterburger". Is that correct?

30 miles for a bacon sandwich? I walk about 5 feet to the kitchen and cook one myself. :D

Here is how I make a "Chip Butty." I fry some bread with butter on it on a flat grill or in a pan, do both sides, stuff a bunch of crispy french fries between the bread. Smash it all together and enjoy. Yummy.
Same way for a bacon butty. Just cook the bread like you would for a grilled cheese. Sometimes I make them like a grilled cheese then throw the bacon in there. Or a bacon chip (fry combo.) mmmmmm
You can make a pizza butty too. I'm pretty sure it's not traditional. Just cook bread like mentioned above and throw a piece of pizza between em. It's a lot better than it sounds.
Of course I talk a lot of people into a peanut butter sandwich with American cheese on it too. They're yummy....

the best place to get them is from a road side cafe or butty van (bit like a truck stop for you guys lol) they dont have to be real fancy just 2 bits of bread /toasted or not /or a oven bottum muffin (not shure if you get them ) a bit of butter 3 slices of bacon (full bits not just the fatty bits ) sliced mushrooms lightly fried and a touch of brown (hp)sauce sling a cup of coffee/tea with it and bobs your aunts fanny ,wearth driving 30 odd miles for :)
