Just wanted to give a thumbs up to Hagerty Insurance cuz their prices can't be beat! Granted, I don't own high-dollar hot rods and I just need enough insurance to meet California's minimum standards but I just insured my '54 yesterday for $105 for the year! $15k agreed upon value (I have $12k into it and shouldn't have more than $20k when completely done).
Hagerty has also insured my roadster for the last 6 years for $103 for the year. $10k agreed upon value (I only have $5k into it). Also, both cars have the 'cherished salvage' clause which means, when wrecked and totaled, Hagerty will pay me the agreed upon value and return the car to me! In addition, they answer the phone promptly and are very cordial. Now.....I've never had to file a claim (and hopefully never will) but for the price and benefits and the fact that I meet state law......I'm pretty happy with them!

  2. I just was talking with them and I have a couple of things to watch out for. First off they ARE a great company and I do have 1 car insured through them (no claims yet, but I do hear good things about claims).

    1. You can't use it as a daily (driving to work in the rain for example)
    2. Check with them for your state, but according to them for California your car (or cars) MUST be kept in a enclosed facility (garage, storage unit, building of some sort)
    3. Also depends on your state, but make sure you have enough medical liability. If you set it up online it defaults with the lowest settings and here in California that might not be enough to protect you and your property.

I’ve had Hagerty for 16 years. Because my car(s) we’re not kept at home, I had to show them my shop facility and the alarm system. They did send someone out to appraise my 64 Caddy. Other that, they have been spectacular

I have had Hagerty a few years and they are responsive to claims and on the two I have had they made the process easy and paid the claim promptly.

I can also say that I have had nothing but great experiences with Hagerty. The cherished salvage option is a nice touch and no-brainer as well. I don't have any claims with them either, but all interactions have been very pleasant.

I've had Hagerty for about 20 years with great prices and on the one claim I've had. They want indoor storage and can't be your daily driver but never heard anything about not driving in the rain. I've been caught in the rain more than once and even had my 30 pickup out in the snow before.

I've had Hagerty for 30 years. Most years go by with no claims. Michigan is a expensive state when it comes to auto insurance unfortunately. I had a major loss and Hagerty's paid 100% plus the wrecker bill. They didn't h***le me about anything, just issued the check. I do have to check on the cherished value as I don't recall that. On my total loss they charged back $1100.00 off the value to keep my pickup. (Didn't bother me at all!)

Another enthusiastic endor*****t from me. We too have had Hagarty for over 20 years, had a couple of claims handled quickly and painlessly. I just added our new '62 Impala SS, that raised our annual premium a whopping $67. :)

I have nothing bad to say about Hagarty
    although
For me they were much more expensive than Grundy
every couple years I compare cost and end up staying with Grundy

I use Grundy, but the only reason is that they used to sponsor this joint years ago. When they canceled their sponsorship, I meant to shop around a bit and never did. Then, last year I crashed a car that was covered by them with a collector policy. Total loss and I figured the insurance was going to be a major h***le...

Grundy was amazing. They had a guy look at the car within a week and the agreed upon value check written to me on the spot.

It really went down like a commercial. I was super surprised.

...That's great news, Ryan. I have 3 cars with Grundy, one for 33 years. Thankfully, never had a claim, but it's good to hear of your good experience. Well, not good that you totalled your car, but great that they came through for you. Glad you survived as it sounds like it was ugly.

I've heard nothing but good about Grundy, I started with Hagarty, have had a great experience and haven't felt I needed to shop them. Like you, when our wagon was crashed, they paid super fast, no h***le, no problems. We have their roadside ***ist as well, and have used it a couple times. I think they're all very good.

My insurance agent tries every year to put my old cars through Hagarty, unfortunately the restrictions don’t work for how I use mine.

Love Hagerty and I have all my collector stuff with them but here is a couple more stipulations in their policy.
    1. No coverage if you are on a race track (kind of a no brainer)
    2. They will not cover a vehicle they insure being towed by another vehicle they insure (does not apply to car trailers).

If these rules have changed, my apology.
