I've got a Halibrand 301 center section and need some bells for a live axle setup. Are these available from Halibrand? Are there other/better options? I've got a spool now. Is there an affordable limited slip option? Are the ring and pinion standard automotive parts or are they unique to the Halibrand Quick Change? I've searched the archives, but this still isn't clear to me! TIA for your help.
The bells or adapters from Champ Center section to early Ford axle housings are a bit pricey and there are two styles. If I remember correctly there are center sections with 11 and 12 bolts. Speedway has some parts. Good luck. Duane
Check with Speedway Engineering in Redondo Beach, they have side bells with the big 9" Ford tubes installed. They also have quite a few parts you will need, like seals and O rings. They also are great with tech questions, been a world of help with my 301. I almost forgot, they also sell the locker ring gear carrier to replace the stock spool.
Thanks for the leads! Mine is an aluminum case unit with 11 bolts. P.S. Looks like they are in Sylmar now: http://www.1speedway.com/
if you can ship it- Frankland will rebuild/setup any manufacturer's qc for $75labor........good people -rick
The 301 11 bolt center section was made to use with 3/4 ton Ford truck housings which bolt right on. You can purchase the side bells/EF adapters on ebay but they are very pricey. Ron's Rear Ends in the Valley can put the unit together for you and install the differential for the street. I did a post while back on mine so check for it under Halibrand or pewsplace. The CHAMP has very few followers these days due to Winters being the leading brand with strong service support but you can locate the parts it just takes time and money...lots of it. Good Luck.
