Hey everyone looking for some help on a 101 I’m tearing down. This is my first 101 and having a hard time getting the pinion bearings out. I have the shafts all free and the large nuts are still in place. Looks to be set screws holding them in that I won’t be able to access. I’m on my second heat cycle in the over at 300 still no luck. If my understanding is right the assembly should just slide out the rear at this point or am I missing something? Thanks for the help!

    I do it like this.

At around 300 degrees, you should be able to gently tap the pinion out towards the rear. The 101 may have a trick I don't know about so don't listen to me unless someone with more experience chimes in.

Don't set the shop on fire.

I was told to heat the case with a rosebud torch until the gear lube in the pores starts to really stink. Then you can reach in and pull the pinion out. That always worked for me. However, my experience is with the Champ center section.

As those guys said, you need to heat the case, not the bearings. If you heat it all in an oven, every part will expand.

If you use an oven, you better have your OWN oven out in the shop. Your sweet wife won't be so sweet if you use the one in the kitchen.

There's a shoulder inside the bore between the 2 bearings on the 101 quick change. You need to remove the nuts to press the pinon out.
