Hey group, As I have said before I have been thinking about loaning these out to an automotive museum for all to see once I have completed the things I have planned for them. Where would you like to see them? (i.e; Indy,Peterson, etc) Anyone have any contacts with any of the larger musuems that could set me in the right track? Thanks, N8
NHRA Museum would be a good place to start. With the GNRS coming up, it will get a lot of attention. I know I'd like to see that in person. I have an original 201 under my car. I never got a chance to see the pics, look forward to a reposting. Whats new on the new castings front?
I have thought about the NHRA. I will be down there this year for GNRS. Maybe I could bring them down and display them. Who knows. Sorry about the pictures. I changed servers and all that ****. High quality pictures can be seen here with a tad bit of history: HALIBRAND
Considering that quick changes originated within and for the circle track guys (big cars, Champ cars, midgets) the Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa would be an appropriate place to display them.
It is good to see them in a good home, here are some pics when I had them and brought them out hiding. RC
Still working on it. Had issues with the rebuild of the car they were being cast for this year for Bonneville so it was put on the back burner. We are just getting back to it.
LW, I wish I had something positive to report. This is taking a little more time than we thought due to the racing schedule of our support. I promise I will update as we go. Thanks, N
Hmmm, FlatCad is running at Bonneville THIS year, and we have a Halibrand QC under it. But not the old style Was that subtle?
Almost a year later and the patterns have finally been picked up (again) and are in an undisclosed location near Sierra Leon for casting out of a 50/50 mix of iron enriched with Uraniaum with a mix of what seems to be unobtanium. Seriously thought progress has started up again. Hopefully we will see results in the following months..
N8B, what a great find and you are obviously looking after those historic pieces very well. As many have suggested those are pieces of art in themselves, produced by fine craftsmen. I am not sure if this fits in here, but I think it does. Here is something I recently made that may be of interest to some of you here to see. I have added a few inital images and a link to how this came about and how I made it! Please be advised that none of these will be available for sale. It was just a challenge I set myself! Geoff aka whodaky
Whodaky, I have to give you very high praise on that piece. Very well done, accurately representative and just plain ole neat. Is that right about 1/4" scale? To bad you wouldn't want to sale one to, oh let's say, a fella like me!
Whoops, forgot to post the link. Is 1/3rd scale! http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/large-scale-cars/25711-1-3rd-quickchange.html Geoff aka whodaky
Thanks Geoff. That is a fantastic project (including the car!). Maybe since you have chosen not to sale the quick change model you can "gift" me a casting in exchange for a "gift" of money from me. (Don't think now that you have showed me that I am going to rest!!!) I am a member over there also although I don't go over much. I have three Pocher Ferrari F40's car and that site is a great resource.
Has anything progressed on this old thread? Any news on the Halibrand project . . . or did it die or just get put on the eternal back burner?
