Hot Rods Halibrand question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris Haynes, Jun 15, 2024.

  1. [IMG] I just bought a Halibrand 101. The studs that attach the axle housings are much smaller than the the Ford bolts that hold the housings to the center section. This leaves a lot of slop. Did they use nuts with a step in them to fill the gap?

They are located by the shoulder, not the fasteners.

Just make sure the nuts are proper torqued.

The 101 studs are typically 5/16”. Is that what yours are? The Ford bolts are 3/8”. The Halibrand 101 was made to use their own side bells, which had 5/16” holes. Typically for midget race cars. If you’re going to use a torque tube, you’ll probably have to modify the holes to fit. The bolt circle is slightly different.

101 uses model A banjo stuff and 4 cylinder 32. That may be where the difference lies

This 101 had 3/8 studs as I remember, but it was a special one that used V-8 change gears. Ed 2.jpg
