Jeem...an Austin would have been a lot easier. I counted 17 peices before we totally remade the bottom of the doors. Check out the Countdown to detroit post for more pics.

Man, I like these, too. Sorry Fatabone. Can I see more pix - both sides?

And speaking of other possible factory wheels, I've always liked the Ford "Deer Hoof" wheels that came on Rangers / Explorers - and have considered getting a set, blasting them and then painting them solid red or gold just for fun. Thanx, Gary

Those rims are from a `76 Lincoln. They were an optional rim. I got rid of my `76 Lincoln few years ago, well actually I s****ped it. Had the car for like 10 yrs...

But I did keep those rims (which was 5 of them). Kept the grill and horns etc too...Got the same chrome/metal center caps as well...Mine dont shine like that picture though, but they could...Only thing wrong with mine are where the weights once were...Not a huge issue...I could not let the junk/s**** yard keep those rims. I figured I could always sell em, or trade em, to someone...To be honest, I have only seen those rims on one other Lincoln besides the one I had. They have to be somewhat hard to find...

  9. The Esajain (sp?) shannon cones are the right size to cover up the area in the center with the mounting ring cut off... Jimmy at Rally America was thinking about repopping them, I think.

I want use the Cal Custom drilled 3 bar spinners, or some 2 bar knock offs and keep them level or below the outside rim, so I'm going to have to take up metal spinning to make and appropriate cover that'll work. They will be going on my gl*** T tub project in place of the TTD's in this Photochop

Everytime I walk through a junk yard and see those wheels I think that they are too kool not to use for the next project. I'm glad that somebody is making it happen. And man do they look great. Good job.

You just flip them around backwards, the holes even have the counter bore to accept the washers from the shank style lug nuts. I TIG'ed up the two small holes that hold the hubcap, and sanded them smooth. The front of the wheel looks like the Lincolns in the original post without the the small oval holes. I did not machine anything, I merely sandblasted the centers, and used Scotchbrite on the outer part of the wheel.

would love to find those in my local junk yard...too bad all the s**** hype, that went on in the mid 80's and than again here recently has reduced our bone yards to nothing but recent vehicle wrecks..like from 90 on up.
and given that and our rust state..there just isnt these sitting in junk yards waiting to be bought for 30 bucks each..(even though these dont rust)
any one got a complete set they want to get rid of?
probably not now since you've seen this thread eh?

I'll bet they're rare as hen's teeth around here. Every wrecking yard in the area sold anything aluminum a few years ago when the price went out of site. Hard to find a good ****** core now.

  16. Got my first two from Flat-top Bob, I found 2 Cordoba's at a swap meet, and I found 5 nice ones on CL for $100... all 5 on 4.5" pattern. I may have cornered the market.

The Flat Top Bob ones came painted black, Some may remember my magic animated wheel polisher from 2 years ago... I never get tired of it... :)

I've been looking for the aluminum spares they put in 90's 1LE Camaros and Trans Ams or some 90-99 Mustang Cobras (5 on 4.5") for a big and little thing... I'll trade 2 decent lincolns for 2 of those :)

Not even. I just s****ped 4 16x10 Boyd's wheels (they were cracked, not to mention ****-ugly) and only got $16 for all four. They're considered "dirty" aluminum and are subjet to much lower prices.

The Lincoln and the Cordoba wheels both look great, and the price is right.

Now just need to figure out what car / truck might have come with something similar but 16 x 6". That is the size I need for the rear of the 32 Ford I'm building.

4t64rd - As soon as you have pics of those Mustang and Camaro spare wheels you were talking about, please post some pictures.

I saw two plain aluminum wheels like this at the Ford Mercury Restorers Club swap meet in Belleville MI last summer. I thought they were spares from a early 90's (Fox body) Mustang. I clearly recall they were 4 lug, so no help for most of our projects.

Here is the spare wheel from the "Fox' ch***is 79-03 Mustang.
Right style, but as you can see, four lug bolt pattern.

Hi there, hope you dont mind me askin, but as this is a Halibrand relatede thread i tought this was the right spot!
At my local s****yard i found a Cherokee Jeep w/ all four wheels that look
very much like the real thing! in 5 lug, i seem to remember measuring them in cms, it was something like 5x11cms, which should translate at about 5 x 4" and a 1/4" and they looked to be alu of course.
What would you guys pay for them?
And most inportant, do you know what that pattern fits other than chysler/Jeep.or where i can find a bolt pattern reference,i remember findin one here in the hamb time ago, but couldnt find it w/ the search thing now.
    Well,thanx, Nick.

PS Those cordoba mags are also very kool, but in europe we dont see many, and even less in junkyards!

    THOSE ARE COOL!!
Are they aluminum? Or aluminum and steel? How exactly were they machined? Can they be narrowed?

  24. I like em, the ones in the original post. I'm gonna have to look around here for some.

I machined the centers and the outter wheel weight lip off of those rims on the white car at the begining of this thread. a guy named tim in new jersey narrowed the front 2 rims.
Did a second set that are on a primered 32 sedan that is owned by the same guy.

Simple job if you have a lathe large enough to swing them.

The threaded holes for the center caps is filled with an aluminum bolt and cut flush. Held in with loc***e.

Dusty them off lightly with a sandblaster for a rough cast look. Helps even out all the machined surfaces and blends together

  27. They are aluminum. The Lincolns are 14" I do not know if any of those were 15" as well? Stan Back has some on his 29 Mercury Saloon.
