sounds like a great idea, right up my alley, hope to have time to get in on this one hope to have one every two weeks things like this is what seperates the hamb from all of the other crappy forums out there
I'm always up for a challenge... So, we can use any type of media, any type of reference material as long as it's a 40 Ford Coupe and it's "due" in 2 weeks... Right? That sounds do-able. This was really a good idea - (I'm getting my bachelors in graphic design right now and it's always interesting to see where each person takes the same topic or item/image). Everyone have fun and be creative with this one!
I took a few minutes and started on it, still got to move it to a different background, but its chopped and sectioned a few inches, probably 7-8" overall, dropped, some skirts, shaved handles, shaved wipers and antenna as well before after (but not done yet)
Cool that there are some good submissions so far.. but remember.. if you photoshop it take it to the next level.. I'm working on my submission today.. it won't be included in the voting, but I thought it'd be weak of me to not play along.
Can you enter more than once? Just in case you have more than one way you would like to see it, a rod version , a custom version. They say it's hard to improve on a 40 Ford , so we have our work cut out for us. If I can think something up , I'll be in.
sure thing cory! Maybe try to keep them all in one post, but as may different versions as you can dream up would be great!
i dont know if this will work. i did it in paint. i dont havephotoshop at home. suicide doors, chopped roof, lakepipes, chrysler new yorker headlights. sorry bout the shitty quality
Rikster did a great job in Photoshop on my 48 Lincoln. Check out the thread. He needs to be in on this challenge
Ok so here is my entry, I dont have much faith in my drawing, but i would like some feedback on the ideas. Enjoy the picture anyway, this is what I'm planning for mine.
I took it to the photoshop and drove it to the salt flats... probably not the natural habitat of a Westergard inspired kustom, but who cares
Like the frustrated drummer in me that tries to keep the beat on my steering wheel as "Inna Gadda da Vida" plays on, I submit this "Art" as my own and do not pretend to be an "Artist" any more than I consider myself a musician.
Here's my contribution: slight taildragger stance, chopped the top but kept the driprails, chrome trim almost untouched, fender skirts, bumpers off an earlier model Ford, sombrero hubcaps, custom grille and spotlights.
Hi Guys, I just found this thread when checking out the art show (awesome work guys) and thought I'd play with the image for a bit. the one guy is right it's kinda low res for just photoshopping, but I know it's not supposed to be just a photoshop contest also... so anyway here is what a half hour in the program looks like. Just a chop and lower with a new coat of paint. Not sure about the upload, got the message file was too big. Funny since I downloaded it from the same thread?
I hope I added enough extra so that this doesn't come off as a straight Photochop. Lessee, quad headlights, second set of 40 Fords flipped over and the edges ground off the second set so that they are just rims in pseudo "pods"; "flares" that curve around between the headlights then go over the front wheels, and through the body; two more "flares" over flush fit skirts on back fenders, tailights between flares in back fenders; scoops with 3 chrome bullets in each rear fender; running boards covered in white vinyl; El Matador's wheels; f & R bumpers shaved; side grills filled, center grill extended to lowered chin pan; ribbed beltline trim retained; handles & hinges shaved, windshield pillars chopped and laid back, white Carson-style top with mailslot rear window, rain gutters removed from rear quarters.
My contribution... not so much art I guess. I just was inspired by a thought I have had for a long time for a 40 Ford coupe. To built it like something that could have rolled out of the Valley Custom Shop in the early 50's. Sectioned body with raised wheel openings. (no skirts this time) chopped top with leaned back windshield and side window openings reshaped to accept the modified side window frames from a 1940 Mercury. Some mild de-chroming, and other than that left it the Ford designed it.
no! don't stop drawing, it's just getting good! Mike's is awesome.. I agree. *please don't quote the pictures.. thank you and carry on*
OK here is a painting I did based on your photos. Lowered, extra bumper guard, accesory bumper tips removed. Not much as they say should be done to a 40 and I agree. !2X24 acrylic. Hope this pic isn't too big. BR
Looks like I'm not going to have time to pull out the paper and lead, so I'll submit my photochop, and something it might have looked like had I had time to render it by hand.
What a cool idea... like I don't follow enough posts everyweek! Here's my chicken scratch version. Let's give it a '39 deluxe nose and lights, ditch the side trim, dip it in red oxide primer with burnt orange wheels shod with pie crust blackwall Firestones. Fab up a trick set of polished aluminum nerf bars and trim the interior with distressed Saddle orange leather.... Oh and power, loose the hood and stuff a Jimmy 6 with two carbs between the framerails! Stitch
ok i tried twice to no avail. i drew up my design on paper. dont have a scanner and cant find my usb plug. next i tried photoshop at work but image was to big. then i tried doing it in paint and i couldnt figure out how to make it small enough to fit. can someone help me with posting a pic if i drew it up in my paint program
Damn I wish I had more time I would be all about this. hopefully I will have time to get in on the next one.
I agree I'm in for the next one and let's work with kustoms for the next couple of projects (or until I win something!)
That's as wrong as two boys fuckin & a girl watchin! ...did I say that out loud? How do I tell them I have no inner monologue?
