FortyPickup ...I can remember your "cellophane" -my marbeling like it was yesterday...cause it was!...like to "sneak" in all the Old Skool stuff, Soooo just "marbeled" a New rear engined IHRA Q/R and they guy freaked....."how'd you do that?
Welcome to Motorama '67! Absolutely my favorite period in car show history. As a high school student in the mid '60s, my car crazed friends and I routinely attended the Rod and Custom Car Show at Pittsburgh's Civic Arena. On my first visit I walked through the main entrance and there it sat... The Little Coffin! On the main floor were beauties like Gene Winfield's Strip Star, next to it was James Darrin's candy apple cinnnamon, diamond dusted, huge finned monster custom and the list went on. I remain hooked! The original Scorpion was a coooool custom. But to my eye, it didn't really look like a scorpion. Soooooo... here's my entry with a stinger and an aircraft landing light in its tail. With a mid-engine, pincher style fenders, a tinted bubble and buckets of chrome The Scorpion is ready for the car show circuit!!!
GaryC That kicks all kinds of ***...Its a perfect mix of Old scool and New design! I like the side "Gill" (scoop) Cool wheel design. Luv the tail on that thang! I'm talking about the car! Once again amazing work!
Gary. that this is GREAT. i've had a similar design in mind for YEARS now only with a motorcycle engine and single rear wheel out back... oh, and no "stinger". my intention was to have a home made personal transport that would be good on gas. i'd prolly use a water cooled motorcycle engine so i can have a heater in the thing for winter time commuting... one of these days maybe i'll actualy start on it.
Thanks guys! I was pretty psyched to do one for this challenge. I am nuts for '60 show cars. Kustombuilder... you and I both have the same ideas. I've sketched 3 wheelers for years. You ought to check this site out. http://www.aptera.com/
Cool idea Nate! Great work so far everyone! Here's mine...definitely a ROTH influence involved with this one.
Fortypickup... Yeah man! Those flames totally completed it. Looks great! I like the booty er... um... body mods.
This is what I am entering that other one was just getting ideas. This is what I come up with (Inspired by Plowboy's car) while thinking of ideas for the trophy we are doing for the billetproof in fla. Let me know what ya think.
heres mine: chopped, channeled, grill inserts, ripple caps, lace roof, upholstered bed. sorry its not too wild, done in paint.
I hope I'm not spamming here, but there is a very thorough article by Pat Ganahl about the mysterious saga and arduous recovery of the Roth Orbitron in the March 2008 issue of HRM. It's worth a look for those interested in this Art Challenge, Kustom Kulture and all things Roth.
After deep soul searching and many days of gut wrenching ponder! I have decided to totally remodel the Saran Wrap "A"! I didn't really favor the color Green anyway! Here is the A bone with a bubble top!
I actually have the next kustom rod style car I want to build figured out and the donor cars sitting in the yard/shed. I ain't gonna let the cat our of the bag until I get the Punk done though. No more bubbletops for me, that **** is too much work. I am out of garage space so something is gonna have to get sold! Ha Ha Ha
Cool Nate! Bout time you got your pens flowin again! this started out as a 53 Caddy! Now its turned into the friggin Batmobile! Oh well...heres "Bat a Lac"!
FortyPickup... Dude I'd copyright that in a heartbeat! Hollywood is gonna cop that for the next Batman movie... Atomic batteries to power... turbines to speed! Holy fins Batman! Love it!
O.K. her's a few different entries from me. I mat be breaking the rules with the last one on here by posting a finished piece I'd previously posted so you (and especially Nate) can be the judge of that. I feel it fits the theme and it is an original that's never been sold. Up first are a couple I brainstormed the day I read Nates challenge. They are: The Jupitor ...and the Mako-Meteor This one was on last weeks art show--- And finally, The R&R Delivery Rod
Just posting these for the hell of it, I wont submit these for the prize since I did this long before the art challenge. Just thought I would add to the good stuff that has been done so far. Nate your sketches keep looking better and better.
