HAMB Auction: Brass Shifter Knob with stainless threaded inserts

  1. Im pretty sure they mean a shift knob that is similar in shape to a trailer hitch ball... :confused:

    Do you do that with a boring head and rotary table? Thats a pretty slick way to cut all kinds of spherical surfaces, both convex and concave.

    Yep. Check out Tom Lipton's book Metalworking:Sink or Swim. Best freaking how to book I've ever read. It has instructions with COLOR pictures in it on how to do it. I'd been machining for a long time and never realized you could do that on the mill until I read that book. It has all kinds of tips and tricks, some I knew, alot I didn't. Check it out. You wil not regret it. Just a few tips pays for the book. Lol.
