Fast approaching my 500th post so it's time to give a little back.
The one or two of you that know me personally will know just how much of a bibliophile I am. Books have always played a huge part in my life and no doubt always will do. I'm a librarian by profession and have so many books at home I could practically start my own library.
Up for auction here (****, that sounds like an eBay soundbite) is a vintage driver's education book of undetermined age.
It's en***led "How to Drive a Car Efficiently" written by "A Driving Instructor"...I kid you not. My best guess to it's age is 1935, judging by the car used in the diagrams. The publisher's give thanks to Austin Motor Co for the use of the illustrations of their "popular Austin Seven". Also to Vacuum Oil Co Ltd "who are famous for the Mobiloil & Gargoyle brands of lubricants".
Chapters include "The legal aspect of driving", "The care of the tyres" & "Sparking plug matters". Cool [IMG]
The publisher was W. Foulsham & Co Ltd in London
The pages are yellowing, the binding is superb and it smells absolutely wonderful (a book-person will know what I mean by this).
Lets's start bids at $1. Auction finishes at 7pm next Sunday (UK time) and I'll pay postage anywhere in the world.

    Quote from the book...
    "Signs and Signals.
Today, the roads are posted with all manner of signs and signals and, before long, there will be so many of them that one can imagine every car will have to carry an observer to spot them."
