HAMB Auctions

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by A32Flathead, Feb 17, 2004.

  1. Are there 'laid down rules' regarding auctions on here?

I notice that people refer to sending money to Ryan in their posts.

As a newcomer, can I get some tip's.

Not that I have, at this moment anything to sell, but I may well have in the near future.

    Thanks guys

An auction item is purely for helping to fund the HAMB.
It works like this: You put up an item for auction with a set amount of time on the auction (normally 1 week). Then people respond to your auction thread and bid on the item. When the specified amount of time has passed, the highest bidder sends his or her money to Ryan. When Ryan lets you know that the money has gotten to him, then you ship the item directly to the highest bidder. Most people offering an item to be auctioned also cover shipping costs as well. Point of it is that ALL proceeds goes to the HAMB.

Now if you want to sell something and make some cash for yourself, then feel free to use the classifieds. Ryan doesn't ask for any cash from the classifieds at all. Actually he doesn't ask for any cash AT ALL for anything. The HAMB is totally free. People usually do the auctions just to help Ryan out, cause this place is cool.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks for the info.

So the auctions help to fund the site, and the classifieds are to sell stuff.

Thats a cool way to help fund things.

the only thing that von t left out is that customarily the high bid is several times the value of the item. think of it as a donation to support the hamb plus you get something cool besides.

from what i've seen on your website and the pic of the hubcap above, it looks to me like you could auction off a couple of signed photos and raise some nice coin for the hamb.

btw; welcome to the US and welcome to the hamb.

I would be more than willing.... I have about 2700 pictures taken this last year at various shows.

I did it back home a little, but would really like to make a go of it here, I will be at the major shows this year plus VLV taking pix & handing out business cards.

Let me see what I can do.

Thanks for the welcome & the good words about my photography..
