Killer, don't let one bad apple ruin the whole barrel. It's a great thing you do, no justification needed to anyone.

Wish I lived closer, I would jump at the chance to have my car chopped..... and learn something in the process.

    Stay cool Killer.
You're worth much more to us than to lose your expertise over one person's opinion.
Take a deep breath and let's all walk away and forget about it.
HAMB Chop is one of the mainstays here and it will always live one as long as we have the generous folks who are willing to make an intense effort for someone else who could not afford a big name shop to do it or don't have the skills. Feeding them and giving some form of thanks they can wear home is a small price to pay for the fellowship, memories and new atitude your rod gets.
I wish we could have one in the Mid-West.
    I'd be first in line...

Yo, Killer...anyone who's been here more than two months knows who you are and what you're about...and knows how a HAMB-CHOP is supposed to go down...it sucks to have someone trashing your efforts, but your buds here won't listen to that nonsense anyway...we KNOW you're bending over backwards to do something cool for someone who might not have the chance to get something as major as a top chop done under normal circumstances...and we applaud ya for it!

It's really a bummer that the HAMB-CHOP had to be cancelled (postponed?) this year, because it's something of a tradition around here, and it illustrates the comradarie that we all share! I hope to see another one happen soon, WITHOUT any negative bullshit surrounding it...the year ain't over yet!!!

I can't even BEGIN to fathom the work that must go into doing a chop (not a body guy here!), much less being able to get such an extreme undertaking basically done in a weekend. Anyone who doesn't think that such a dedicated group effort isn't worth the price of some grub, drinks, t-shirts and basic supplies is outta their mind! My car being a Fleetline (fastback) makes me wanna jump up and yell "ME! ME! ME! Overe HERE!" to get that kind of cool work roughed in for less than the price of a stock GM crate 350...but it's outta my range right now! (But damn well WORTH what it would "cost"!!)

Hopefully, this shit will blow over and we'll get to witness another very cool HAMB-CHOP soon!

Rock on, Killer!!! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I hesitate to add to this fucking mess, but I can't sit silent without sayin':

Killer's one of the most straight up motherfuckers a guy'll ever meet. He works like a dog and doesn't stop until the job is plenty done. He promises that the car will be in one piece before the car goes home, yet has delivered bodies that are much much much more than that.

His generosity and contribution to the HAMB and to me personally have been beyond value.

Eat a bowl of dicks and a half a cat.

WTF... I cannot fathom someone BITCHING that $1K is too much to pay to get a car chopped - by a PRO.

Forget about the cost of supplies...it's a hell of a lot of work, especially on the year of cars that are being offered up.

First you say it's too much money, THEN you say it's not enough time - WHAT you want it cheaper AND to take more time doing it?

Lay off the crack pipe chopt50 - Lets see some pics of the beautiful chops YOU "have been involved in"

  12. I can't add anything that hasn't already been said. To come on here and say that something can't be done... when it's already been done... TWICE, you've got to be a fucktard.

Killer you know you wield a shitload of respect around here, even from dumb-ass Canucks like me who've never met ya. Don't give this another thought man.

Jet Fuel, "eat a bowl of dicks and half a cat"?! Damn, I'm glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that. It coulda hurt comin' out my nose [IMG] LMFAO

I'm not adding anything to this that hasn't already
    been said.
Just keep stirring the pot dude, I'm sure you'll be
    a happy man for it.
FWIW, we chopped Draglink's '52 Chevy in two days.
That is all the hard work, not bondoing etc.
Yeah it can be done, and we had a small crew.

    Jason don't sweat this asswipe.

Maybe our new master of the chop
can show his depth of skill and knowledge
by having his own HAMBCHOP , on his own dime
on his timetable , then we could see what he is
really talking about . OR is this all just talk , with nothing
    to back it up . . . mostlikely .

    Jason fuck what this guy
is saying man . It is just bullshit on a computer , and you have
nothing to prove to him , or anyone else on
here . . . as far as the numbers / cost , or the skill involved .

  15. I agree - nothing more could be said. I look at the sedan delivery we are doing and think how cool it would be chopped. I do not have the talent. However someone rounds up a group of talented people that are willing to thrash on something for a couple of days. That rocks and is what the HAMB is all about.
This place is an outstanding educational tool for a lot of us looks like chopt50 has not learned enough. Go away understand what you are talking about and let those who know and spread their generousity be.
If I was not so far I would be screaming ME ME ME!!
The humor that is flowing is gonna get me in trouble at work. I keep laughing out loud.

    Leave the HAMB alone!! [IMG]

I don't know ANYTHING about chopping autos but I do got an opinion on this here HAMB chop, the chop to the best of my knowledge is voluntary, no one is conscripted into having their rig chopped and have to try and come up with the loot to cover it! so the person lucky enough to get selected is doing so of their own free will, no matter what the money is spent on

as for Killer in my limited time on here has been one giving, generous individual, the biggest thing I remember off the top of my head is the guy who rolled his truck and Killer offered up a cab and stuff to the guy to get back on the road NO CHARGE

    So what happened to Chopt50?

He seems to have faded away.

Did he think he was going to enlighten all of us and we would all go, "Hey, that KILLER guy is RAPING us"?

Then we would all gather up the torches and hound dogs and chase KILLER down, string him up by his toes and put his hands in cement?

Well, if he did, he must REALLY be let

    down!

Always remember, I'm here to help!!![IMG]

Killer, you deserve to be pissed. But be pissed at the one moron that has that opinion.

The rest of us appreciate what you have done, and hopefully, will continue to do.

ok, I replied to the intial post without reading the replies.

    Thank you.

Ya know fellas, I've been on this message board since the beginning. I mean the very beginning. I have learned way more than I can say from this place. I don't buy magazines anymore (cept Hop Up and Rodders Journal) cause I just don't need em! I can honestly say I wouldn't be in the position I am in today without the HAMB...

Sometimes we post pix of our junk to get a couple "attaboys" and keep the motorvation on high. It's a bitch to keep motorvated when you are your only employee and sometimes you need another set of eyes to look at your junk and help you along the way... in this case, a couple thousand extra pairs of eyes really helps!

I feel like I have thousands of friends available at my fingertips. To answer questions, bust my balls, make me laugh.... or piss me off.

I promised myself a long time ago I wouldn't have "customers"... I would do work for friends. I'm fortunate enough to be able to stick to that... mostly because of the HAMB.

HAMBChop is my little way of saying thank you. Hopefully the person who has thier car chopped will remember it forever... the poeple who attend will learn a little bit and the rest of you can be there through the pix...

We knew about Kristys situation and she knew about the $$ involved. I was trying to figure out a way to help her get her car chopped without coming up with all the $$ herself. Me being the person I am, I didn't want to come on here and say "hey! send us some money so we can chop Kristy's car!" I was trying to do it myself... they've been though some tough times lately and I figured choppin her car might make the tough times a little better anyway...

I was disappointed and worried when we stopped recieving emails. That's why I was hesitant to do another car... I wanted to know where Kristy was and make sure they're ok!

chopt50 has never been to a HAMBChop and it's painfully obvious that he doesn't understand what the HAMB means to everyone else here.. thats too bad.

That was pretty long winded and prolly a clusterfuck of random thoughts that didn't make sense...

No more replies please. Let it die.

This thread is stupid and Killer doesn't need any shit for all he's done...

I do think that the $1000 dollar thing hasn't really been broadcast enough. This HAMB Chop is the first I'd heard about it. It's not in any way unreasonable but I think it could have been advertised a little more. I think it's caused a lot of unnecessary confusion.

May be next time it could be broken down kinda like an envoice so it's a little easier to see where the money's going. Instead of saying "It's gonna run you $1000 for food shirts and materials," just tell them what the individual costs are.

Well at least it's out there now.

Don't let it fuck up your mojo Killer. It's still a kick-ass event.

Chopt50 doesn't have what they call the People Skeels...

  25. Man, I'd pay a $1000 to have someone chop a top in a heartbeat. My buddy owns a shop and his rate is $41 per hour, times the 32 hours put in and that equals $1312! And thats just for one person's time! And not to mention the great time, man, like I said a $1000 is one sweet deal I wouldn't blink an eye at. Sounds like a great thing you guys are doing, don't let it die because of one dickhead opinion.

This is the first chance I have had to let everyone know that Karl and Kristy WILL NOT be participating with their 52 Pontiac in the hamb chop.

I am forwarding this post for them myself, a good friend, as they have no computer access to let everyone know first hand. They have been in the process of moving and some plans fell through, so they are temporarily living in a motel in Old Town Temecula.

We apologize for any inconvenience and also for the late notice.

PLease go ahead and line up a back up car anyway.

Now, for my opinion, and theis has NOTHING to do with Karl and Kristy....
Having done a few chops myself, and knowing what time and material is involved, I find it obsurd that there is a $1,000 fee for the recipient of the chop. I am not aware if that is made public to all on the forum or not, but there should be nowhere near that amount of money required for materials to chop a car. I do understand paying for the food and drinks and provisions, but even those could not add up to $1,000...

And, chopping a top in 2 days?! NO WAY POSSIBLE and still be done right. I don't care what anyone says, it cannot be done the best way possible in two days, and by no means possibly be finished.

Well, good luck to whoever gets their chop done, and I hope you guys can still have your party with another car... Just doesn't sound realistic to me. [IMG] [IMG]

Chopt, let's get this straight RIGHT NOW! there is NO FEE to do your car ala HAMB Chop, BUT the recipient MUST pay for ALL the materials needed to do the job, pay for the Tshirts, and buy all the burgers, hot dogs, beer, water, soda etc etc etc, as for the 2 day comment, it's been done 2 years in a row now, no, the finish bodywork and glass isn't done, but we never said it would be you rube so I'm not sure what the fuck you're talking about, oh yeah, one last thing, BLOW ME!

i feel a grand is reasonable not to mention its not a exact fee its just a high est. all these guys donate time and skill not to mention my shop for wich i have to close up for business on that saturday loosing several hundred dollers. i think that the obserdity would be in all these guys having to put all the time and effort, and having to put there own money in. that would suck!!! they already have to put alot of gas money into the drive and hotel rooms. so i would have to say f-off

probably the sanest post in the entire thread.

no ofense to anyone else [IMG]

I can't help but think though, that the total cost of a HAMBchop should not fall entirely on the recipient, a thousand bucks IS a lot of money for some.

what if there were some sort of fund raisers, auctions or whatever throughout the year to cover the cost?

that way maybe we could help the young kid that may not have a thousand bucks,

it would also be a way for those of us that can't attend lend a hand too.
