What does that shifter knob say and where is it from? Looks right at home in Doc' ride. Car looks like it is scream'im 200mph just sitting in the driveway. KNUX!

WOW! I could get lost in the details, outstanding!

  18. The stance is killer, the concept is great... fit and finish look good... but it has too many goo-gaws for a hot rod.

i.e. It ain't gonna do 150 in the quarter mile, so it doesn't need a parachute... one little trinket is good, but this thing is littered with them... from the gas pedal to the tail lights to the radiator cap, to the steering wheel and then back down to the brake pedal... and then the mic in the back window? WTF is that for?

People might say "you get lost in the details"... but in reality, those are just distractions that take away from the REAL creativeness that he put into the car.

All the comments are about the stuff added to the car AFTER it was built...

Just my opinion... but pull all those trinkets off... reverse the whitewalls in the rear (or better yet, go with Radirs, blackwalls out) and you'd have a car worthy of a top-ten award.

  19. I might leave the turtle on the radiator cap... that's kinda cool.

I love it all... Cars are like people and can be a mix of more than one thing. Race and show works for me! This beast is sinister and beautifully executed. Congrats on a point perfect machine. Killer!

Thanks guys for all the comments, both good and bad. To answer a few questions.

53burb. The shift knob says "public school city of new york", best I can tell it's from around the 30's and was on an old school house door.

druss32. Yes the brake pedal was cut from the top of a valve cover.
The gas pedal was a business card holder that was milled
to look like a flatty. I cut off part of it to use as a pedal.

SamIyam. The mic in the back is actually wired as a third brake light
It has a red lens inside and is quite visible when lit.
I know it's not traditional, but I like the added safety.
You are right that it doesn't need a parachute. I could
not find any way to mount the gas filler/cap that I
thought looked good on the car. So, I put it behind the
chute pack. The whole thing lifts up to fill up. And the
chute does work. I like it anyway.

Oldbobsign: There were no silver dollars made in the US in 1933.
There were gold dollars but they were called back in by
the government. These are replicas of the '33 gold coin
made in silver. I didn't like gold for the car. They didn't
make nickels in 1933 either, so the wristpin holes are
filled with canadian 1933 nickels. I figure it's just a
matter of time before they become someones
souvineer, so I may change them to something else.

I made the taillights out of some import pistons that I scounged out of the scrap pile at my brothers shop. The connecting rods are actually column drops made by HAMBer Steve Maund. They were very easy to make.

When you see the car in person, you don't really see all of the details at once. You have to spend a little time with the car to see them. I've had buddies over several times and they find something new each time. These pics were taken to show some of the details so you are obviously going to see them. I'm still tweaking the car right now, but it is pretty close to being finished. Quite a few HAMBers supplied parts for this car and I thank them for their contribution.

    Steering wheel: Savage
    Rad. Cap: Chromedrat
Rear view mirror and parachute pull: Bluto
    Pinstriping: Kevin Lee
    Hambskull: Flattopbob

Thanks again for all of the comments, Vroom Vroom.

    Doc.
