We are almost there,,stayed the night East of Nashville and are getting ready to get on the road for the last 5 hours.

Lost a steel belted radial between Joplin and Springfield, thank goodness we felt it shaking prior to it blowing, it is not pretty. Had a great helpful set of hands from T. Lazier (sp?) and company which we cannot thank enough. We will post more when we arrive home.

  2. Well THE Fondy WI crew all made it home safe too ...great time thanks.

  3. Hey Kid,
    We got home just fine.
Didn't collect anyone on the road so I guess everyone made it at least past KC.
Don't have time to read the whole post now. Haven't heard from BOb can someone PM me and tell me he's sleepin' in his own bed, Please.

    I'll check back later.

  5. Denise,
Was good to meet you finally. I didn't have but an hour drive to the track but it took about 3 hours to get home. The old truck kept vapor locking and we would have to stop and let it cool down before we could drive again. I had changed my exhaust to scavenger pipes and they were blowing on the fuel line so got to change them again. take care and again great to meet you.
    Later,
    Dick

Made it home around midnight; long day and long drive with trips to the Tulsa airport and stops for parts exchange. The real excitement came when we stopped for gas in South Dallas and realized the trailer wheels were literally falling apart in chunks. Rix Rex and I nursed it to a Wal Mart and got it taken care of. I don't even want to think about what might of happened if we didn't catch it time....

Glad to hear everyone made it back without much incident. A big THANK YOU to all of you for visiting my little neck of the woods.

We drove straight thru from the Salt to the swap meet, slept 5 hrs, swap meet all day Fri and then Joplin and partied a bit. I was a bit out of it by Friday bed time. ;)

Another 1/3 of the Austin crew got in at about 1 this morning. Oklahoma roads did a number on Joyce's little model a truck. Broken rear suspenison right at the Red River. We pulled my coupe off the trailer, switched to the 3.50 gears in a parking lot, put her's on the trailer, and away we go. I'm sure that a more detailed story will follow later on.

Just need to hear from the Headhunter/ Mr. Ford group to make sure they made it as well.

Hey Denise- it was great to see you! Glad you made it home safely.

We had great weather cruising home in the ragtop, I guess the anti-rain coat worked!

Mike "Barn Find T" and Todd "Hot Stuff" are having some charging issues on their van, but are making way back to Denver as I type this.

And all I want to see is Troy's '40, there are exceptions to every rule.......

BigKen and Ryan made it home at about 5pm..... The boy and I had a blast doing Route 66, and introducing him to all I could. Most killer bonding trip, that's for sure. Truck performed flawlessly.
As usual, it was great seeing old friends, and making new ones.:D

  14. Home Sunday about 4:30 and the Suburban did not let me down, on the Hi-Way that is. It couldn't handle a little strip abuse shutting off as it hit its peak rpm,s at about 4500 for the powerflyte to shift into high gear. But I did better my goal of 30 secounds!! Blowing thru the traps at an amazing 25.16. My next run I paired with a cool Valiant coupe, only to have my doors blown off when my ride crapped out again. I think the Valiant would have kicked my ass any way, it was sporting the 225 c.i. slant six with a 4-brl. carb, very cool little MoPar. I had a great weekend. --Sololobo

Yeah Todd I have your tools. I was thinking about hooking up with you for the Pile Up....let me rephrase that. Seeing if I couldnt hitch a ride. Im taking most of the day off today, to get the garage in order before I tear into the 40.

I rolled in about 11 am sunday, about the time Greezy was rolling through, so I jumped in and helped him get the 40 in the garage, and get the truck and trailer back, He is pretty bummed out, but after accessing the situation, it may be a blessing in desquise, as he was wnting a lower first gear and a higher 4th so this will be a good reason to do so, and with some help from his buds we could have it all done in a good weekend!! So other than his job, he really has NO excuses not to make the HCPU. As for my little Willys I couldn't be happier, I got 4 good runs in, ran all around town in it , and it made it there and back with only getting a leaky header gasket, and I'll fix that today. Good seeing everyone and was glad to hear Bob K made it home OK. Later, Rusty.

Yeah, I was supposed to go to work, but 4 am came wayyy to early, I kinda had today on reserve anyway. I wanna get the car cleaned up etc, since it had been sexually molested by some Kropdusters. Todd put the sticker on straight and I might leave it on a little longer, I'm sure there are more on it that I have not found yet. It's like picking ticks off my dog!!!! Later, Rusty.

  25. Jerry and I are leaving Moriarty, NM in a few minutes. So far everything is fine. Fuel pump is noisy but still working. The AC melted a relay in OKC but I was able to steal a relayfrom my fuse panel for the electric fan so our comfort would not suffer.

The parking lot power steering pump replacement is working top notch.

    My comfort will not suffer!

You leave that sticker on to long and it will get infected, you never know what those krotch dumpsters are leave you with. (or what anitbiotics its gonna take to cure it!)

  27. We all (daughters, grand kids, etal) made it back home safe and sound. Kids & G-kids fell out of line in Dallas area at 3:00 p.m. (one lives in Saginaw near Fort Worth and one lives in Dallas) and we went on to Houston and arrived around 8:00 p.m. Tired, but happy. The GizzleHopper was dropped off in Ardmore to await the HRR there next weekend. Hope you all enjoyed hearing her cackle Friday night.

The StudeDude's crew rolled into Aurora, CO at about 9:15 last nite...left Joplin @ 7AM...rolled thru some hellacious rain around Wichita (nice and cool tho), humid & ht after that and finally tossed a fan belt off my bro's '47 Aerosedan in Colby, Kansas. That took 45 minnits to fix so delayed our 13 1/2 hour trip home by a bit...but other than that, not a problem at all...

Good to be home, glad to hear everyone else made it home.

Had a great time and I'm ready to do it again next month...!!!

PS - Denise... and Atch...I WAITED til amost midnite for either of you to come back to the motel...but finally got tired...

You should do that, it is awsome to have it, I put one in my 62 Vette. I am only turning 2k at 75 Mph now.

Ask Ryan how quite it is, no more shifter noise.
