The waterpump I had to replace on the way there worked fine.

After stopping in Springfield to walk the swap I made it home safely.
The van decided it would behave itself most of the way. The front passenger side wheel bearing is going bad...grumbling and making a racket. Started about 40 miles from St. Louis. I'll get after it this week.

Looking forward to NEXT YEAR all ready!!

I was really "bummed out" early Friday morning when the wife and I left in our '56 Chevy headed from Indy to the drags and the '56 started running really bad. I "nursed "it home unloaded all the bags into the Escort and headed out again. I had cheered up some when we made it to the Springfield swap meet. Saturday morning at the drags as a spectator I started feeling better. By the end of the day after seeing great drag races and meeting nice people I felt much better. Looking forward to next year as a participant. The '56 is over at Tom Culbertson's shop to get fixed. Thanks to all for a great event! We really enjoyed ourselves!

You must have tossed on a new AC belt after the drags!

Did not hear you went through a power steering pump.

We made it back about 1AM last night.

    We're home finally.

    1) The steel belt on one of our tires decided it should be on the outside of the tire instead of the inside - changed tire !!
    2) Our speedometer had us going from 20 MPH to 90 MPH in a quarter of a second - laughed !!
    3) Our wipers quit leaving us to drive 3.5 hours in the rain - put more Rain-X on the windshield !!
    4) Time at the HAMB Drags - PRICELESS :):D:cool:

  9. 1) Michelle and I made it home safely in our stylin' Enterprise Grand Prix. 9 hours flat to Chicago courtesy of Mr. T We headed straight to McNamara's. :D
    2) Thanks to TudorJeff (and LouverDude and Gerg) for keeping us occupied with all of the fun text messages on the way home.
    3) Greezy -
    a) I will be right over in my maid's uniform
    and
    b) If you don't come to the Pileup... well... that's just silly....

Denise glad to hear you guys are back safe. ( my two favorite hot-rod girls ) Despite all the week-end problems me and Malcolm rolled into Omaha bout 3P.M. The wagon was limping a little on 6 or 7 cylinders, but made it back safe. Was great seeing you. Gary

  17. Gene and Dean Johnson loaned me their Trailblazer and trailer. Got the wounded coupe unloaded and put away before noon yesterday.

  18. I wuz gonna say, perhaps trailer the cars until I realized I've had more trouble (tires) with the trailer than with the 32....

  20. Pulled in around midnight lastnight after a fifteen hour drive(with a few on ramp naps) ,crashed and was up at 7:00am and off to work!!! Life sucks now except for the fact that this will happen again 364 day from now. Only 330 days till I start working on my car to bring it back for 2009 HAMB DRAGS!!!

Denise, it was great to finally meet you.

We made it home safely too with zero problems. Were crusing down I44 from Joplin to Tulsa and saw several HAMB'rs pulling along in their trailers as we cruised on by. We even were passed by Crab and his buddy Chris in their 32 and 39 cars. That was pretty cool in itself.

Great to meet everyone, and we look forward to doing it all again soon!

And BigKen - we're working on the plans for the 'Thaw. Just gotta work out the hotel and time arrangements, but it's all in the plans.

I was driving the 32 5 window and saw the little RPU. It was cool seeing Goztrider cruising down 44. I usually have my camera with me and this was no exception. :)

  23. Yup, dropped off Jerry and immediately went through a hail storm! Got a bit warm in the truck without any air moving but everything is fine.

My power steering pump has been making some noise on the way out but that was about it. The second to last run I made it gave up completely but did not drop any fluid. Jerry and I left a bit early to stop at an O'rileys on the way back to the hotel. I replaced the pump and in doing so managed to drop every tool and part I had at least twice often losing said items in the black unknown. Many offered a hand and a beer to help and I thank you for your assistance!

On the return trip home the main power relay cooked itself and was replaced as mentioned before. Today in Grants it gave up completely. I will investigate it further but I belive the blower motor was slowly dieing and has finally given up. Time to upgrade I suppose.

All in all, we detuned it to a mere 480-500 HP at the wheels for the trip, managed an average 14 MPG and didn't miss a lick. Now I want to upgrade my fuel system and change the cam so I can really run a 1000 crank shaft HP and see if the low 11's can actually happen!

We rolled in about 8 pm with the trailer still empty. Lots of little hiccups, but we all made it. Talk about a kick ass weekend!

  25. We made it home mid-day monday after a few issues with the battery of the van.
I can't say as much for whatever hit my hood at 90mph!
