not convinced this was built by gm or even given out to one of the other designers, it's very 'kustom'

you can tell especially in the second photo that the cockpit is moved backward or that the rear wheels have been moved up. much sportier. still very much like an airplane though much more jet-age than the 1940s-50s prototypes and almost unlike the sleek and angular shark shapes that bill mitchell took into the 60s.

its a 1958 buick xp-75 (skylark III) designed by GM in clay and then actually built into two running/driving cars by pininfarina. either the internet is wrong (when has that ever happened?!) or pininfarina had a close relationship with GM...

  23. The Plymouth Plainsman, post 151, looks like they took the top off a different car and put it on the roof backward. upload_2016-10-3_9-18-39.png

Yes! the late 50s to mid 60s mercury breezeway roof, and i'd guess a bunch of others used that roof

I wonder if there's a window that goes up and down (like a limo) between the drivers and passengers like the breezeway's window did

interesting how the xp300 used old aviation design but looked like a fish with a big open mouth and gills (though not bad at all in my opinion, that's for sure). but then the 60s brought in jet design while using aquatic ideas like the mako shark (ugly)
