Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1950coronet600hp, Dec 9, 2010.

  1. so I searched.. there's a thread for camp trailers, there's a thread for delivery vans. but no strictly motorized living quarters.. so I figured I would start one. i've yacked about my 55 van that will be a motor home too many times already.. so why not one more time.. here's mine.. got a pic of yours?

Damn Don, That is really cool. Have you talked him into letting you use it to tow the Willys? Now that would be going racing in style.

I have always been facinated with the "car"based home made conversions done back in the day....tried to start a thread on them a few months back and it got shut down pretty quick..maybe this one will survive lol!

actual motorhomes started as the HAMB friendly years ended, I'm sure there are some conversions that would be OK

I have a 67 Travco, little too new, a HAMB friendly trailer thread might yield a few more results

This one sold at action a couple years ago. Built on 37 ford truck chassis and still runs a flathead.

  23. Probably too heavy. That huge bus actually has no frame. It is just a network of small square tubing...Plus it is powered by a SBC.....He did restore a Honda Z600 to tow behind it.

  28. I always wanted to visit California and I knew the only way I was going to get there was to build my own motorhome that would accomodate the three of us. I started with an almost new, rear ended 1975 Dodge Maxivan that had a 318 engine. Anyway, I did build it (pro sleep style) and we got to California and beyond. Hapydz !

    Hmmm ...

Okay, I found a couple of images over on the web site HERE.

    First there's this one:

    Caption for the above image:

    There's also this image:

    Caption for the above image:

There's more images of a similar vehicle HERE.

There are a few more images and a bit of history on the first web site linked above. It's worth a look. Ditto with the second web site linked.

And for even more fun, check out the Google image search result page HERE. There are many, many cool images of old RVs linked there.

I am really glad you're on the other side of the country... or I'd be forced to make you an offer.
