TRuss, hope you make it! If you don't make the breakfast, at least drop by the shop while the guys are there!

CosmoMerc, are you coming, haven't seen a post from you. If you can make it, I promise not to make any more 4 door jokes!

Yeah Brett, looks like we can expect a bunch of folks. Yall do me a favor and sorta be a little forgiving tomorrow if somebody shows up with a glass body and/or radial tires!
Not all of us have the time or skill to bring back some of the old steel that's left to restore. To tell you the truth, I probably would have a glass body now if I hadn't gotten hold of the Brookville I have. Either that or buy somebody's finished or nearly finished build. At my age I ain't got the time or the energy left to revive a rusty old hulk to the level I want for my last car. Some of these guys are in the same boat.
As for radials, I ain't so sure I understand the passion for bias ply anyway. I have bias, but who can say what he next set will be? The advances in ride, traction, and reliability are difficult for me to ignore.
Anyhow, humor me and go easy on the pilgrims!

  5. DOM, so if im able to make it, is it better for me to take 16 or 19/41 off noahs ark?

Chad, if I were coming from Noah's Ark, I think I would come East on Noah's Ark then South on 41/19 as Westerm Sizzlin is on the North side of Griffin on 41/19, left side of roar coming South. Turn thru just below restaurant to get over median.
Hope you can make it. You mentioned that '35 dash earlier and I'd like to get your opinion on it! I like having a glove compartment, but man that thing is warped so bad the waves will make you seasick!

It's an open invite and you're very welcome to come! Just bring money for your breakfast and whatever you want to drink for the BS session afterwards at my shop. I'm about to get on the phone and call you and if I don't get you here's directions from Gainesville:

South on I985 to I85 to Atlanta and pick up I75 South to GA 20 West at Mcdonough, GA West on GA20 to US41/19. South on 41/19 till you get to Griffin city limits. Go straight past first traffic signal after entering city limits. On right you will see Wal Mart and related, and then on left you will see Western Sizzlin. Continue South to first turn through and make U- turn back to restaurant.

  13. Me and Tudor are meeting at the Hwy 20 and the 985 at 7am and hauling arse down to Chucks, then on over to the Sizzler. Should be a fun ride. Decided not to bring Kim's Falcon - it'll cost me $40 in gas with one car .

Looking forward to hanging with you hoodlums!

  20. Thanks Dave & Brett for setting this up, it was worth the trip for all the people, food and to see DOM's shop. I hope that we can do it again sometime this year. Here are a couple of pics of the day.

  23. That was a good time! Tudor changed his header gaskets at 5 am then he called me at 6 and said "I'm bored let's go!" I was right $40 in gas round trip - better than a Disney Land ride. Lots more characters that's for sure. DOM has a sweet shop and many old tools. One of them read "This machine conforms to the orders of the war production board". Way cool. Here are my pics. Thanks to all you guys who put out the effort to get this going. It was a damn fun time! It was cool to meet some new faces. Velomech - do you like the Shack Shakers?

This was a great day, and I think we all had a great time, I know I did! I counted as best I could, and it was difficult with all the folks that were going back and forth to the food bar and I got 21, and some more showed up after the breakfast while we were at the shop! A really good mix of people and vehicles. Some traditional, and some with lots of bling and shine.
But what the hell! Why should everyone like the same thing! According to Eddie (the crippled dude on the bicycle) all the brothers in the neighborhood were amazed.
One little fact about the neighborhood there at my shop that I neglected to mention is that where the brick ranch style house on the Northeast corner of the intersection just past my shop to the North, once stood a big old house in which "Doc" Holliday was born! He grew up in Griffin and actually practiced dentistry in Griffin till he got TB and moved West for the dry climate.
We had people from Gainesville to Warner Robins and from Greenville and Newnan to McDonough and Stiockbridge, and I want to thank all of you for coming. Maybe in the future sometime we can do it again down this way somewhere.
All in all a fine time was had by all, or so it seemed. Thanks again for coming,
    Dave
