I've been cruisin' the 350/700r (thumper cam) set-up in the '55 caddy-PLENTY of power for a cruiser-it will smoke the tire(s) from a stop but run's about 2 grand at 70 with plenty of pedal left.
The mildest thumper cam in the "stock" 270 hp 350 crate sounds NASTY in the parking lot-just what I wanted! If y'all were interested.

Hey Kevin I got your reply on the 4 link. Thanks for the tip. I'm using whats called a super pivot set up to help prevent any binding issues and fat 1 1/2 bars. I'm using Slam Specialties bags 7 inch in the rear 6 in the front. 81 Camaro subframe. I'll try and get some pictures up soon but it ain't half as kool as yours! Best of luck to ya!

On the bar length-I understand that longer the better, but your top bars will be about 5-6" shorter though with the cadillac x-member- you'll have to work with the positioning to keep them from interfering with each other-cut the brackets and make them fit-make custom gussets. There will probably be a little binding of the rubber bushings at some point(a little) but set up the bars at the guess-timated ride height with no binding. You will get different answers from everyone, but if you follow some basic rules you will be fine.....(correct pinion angle, level bars at ride height, square everything, reinforce)
Mine rides fine -make sure and use atleast #2600 bags for the heavy cad. I can run only about 60psi-front and 50 psi back. The set up is a tad bouncy (a tad -not bad),but the ride is much better than lowered springs and blocks-and it is adjustable, I love it.
I have used airbagit.com bags etc.for 3 cars with no problem-their stuff is better quality now. I would go with a viair 380 or better compressor though. Quote them their ebay prices they will match them. They have a great heavy-duty tri 4-link kit for $299..... 4 HD 2600# bags for $158.

Man o man, that's quite a change from the mean green...I like it...took a year from your last post, and it looks like you've been busy.

I see cruiser skirts, pretty much a stock body, two-toned, rechromed (?) bumpers and nice gl*** all around...what'd you do for the interior...???

Back in '09 on my post in this thread I mentioned I'd let you know how my bro's rebuilt 331" Caddy engine is working...happy to say he's getting 20 -21 miles per gallon with the rebuilt 331" and Hydramatic...it runs like a top...but on the other hand, my newly rebuilt 500" Caddy engine took a dump...don't know if you've seen this "update" on my Caddy thread or not, but go here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&page=14&highlight=the+best+55+caddy+build

It's coming apart now...so we'll see what exactly happened...

    Car's looking gorgeous 54Cruzer...

That thing turned out absolutely beautiful. you have got to be beaming with pride. How does she drive. I have been driving mine with the bbc and have no complants, plenty of power . really nice car thanks for the update

  12. Aw hell 54 , that looks incredible. Love the color choice. Just spent all day ripping the rear out of my " new " 55 Coupe de Ville for updated suspension . Can't wait till I can stand and look at my ride like you are doin to yours.

Rides and drives great for being as low as it is. I'm real happy with the air ride and the way the front clip turned out.
