Speaking as a returned serviceman, I say hell yeah im in...the idea to make a plaque using the br*** HAMB Alliance tag design is a winner. What do ya say Ryan...will it fly ?
Believe me it was not an ego trip or dueling wallets. I spent much more than I should have but it was to benefit the HAMB and it is a beautiful piece of art to me. To many people it would be chump change. To me it was a big leap at that time. I believe that Ryan won't allow it to be cloned now years after the agreement was made. That is not his style.
He made a run of fifty of these a few years ago for us old chebby truck fans. I believe he moved at one point and hasn't setup the works to cast anything yet? It is a hobby, not his regular gig, I believe.
the topper like Denise has size wise would be great, that design probably wont happen however . how about the 'artists" on board here submit some designs on a thread that could be considered????????
I had one of those two Denise... I gave it to Doc after he rescued me. As for the tag topper, there were only three or four made. And no, there will never be anymore made. They rule. I might someday do something really simple and small as a tag topper.
I have the other one. Fuelpump gave it to me years ago. I had it on the Peter beater when it was in Autorama. Now, it hangs in my shed above my toolbox. No, you can't have it.
This idea gets my vote, as if that makes a difference. Something small, simple and different from the rare ones would be cool. Limited run, but less rare than a handful please.
I might someday do something really simple and small as a tag topper.[/QUOTE] 2010 is the 5th anniversary of the HAMB alliance? How about a special edition 5th year alliance tag topper?
ok, so how much might a simple aHAMB design casting cost, if say spread out over 100 units? or even just 50..alot of talent on the board to do a simple..kool design for a toppers, find a caster (even some of the folks that do tinkets on hamb could do it) It seems simple to do, if you know what your doing, to save on cost, maybe an unfinished type, where if you brought it, you could polish it out, or paint and leave ruff. a good run and sell them for under 50.00 at fifty , it be a split, 25.00 to caster, 25.00 to a charity, or the caster could donate his part, but not important, mans gotta feed the family, I think its do able, wish I know how and had the stuff to do it. 50.00 seems fair, but may be alot to others in these times. Maybe as simple as the AAA 5 year toppers, but with the HAMB logo & ?, if thats kool with the admin. there seems to me more then enought interest, and no ones asking for something free, and would feel good about helpping a charity, maybe pick 5, and poll it. but the time maight be good, winter is coming, and between shows and such, alot could be done, and people need something good and proud to feel about, why not a HAMB topper to spread the love ..peek some interest, get folks talking, and if they jumping in to talk, folks are meeting and becoming friends, the lurkers on the board must be huge, and many re just down the street, around the corner, or across the tracks from friends they always had, just didnt get to meet them yet. sorry JMHO
Here's a little something I threw together. You guys won't like it because it's billet, but what else can ya do when you don't know how to sand cast? Justin
Like Denise said - when Ryan says it will be done it will be done and not any sooner. This thread has come up to have a traditional Topper (or plaque) every year like clockwork for the last half dozen years. I've just been waiting for the decision Hey, we got two different keychains OK'd. Give it time. And you're right Ratty55 - we don't need a billet or modern looking item - it will surely be traditional, done just like "in the day". Dennis
Dennis, would you happen to have one of the HAMB key chains laying around, I'm all over the round, shift ball style one.. thanks
