This hits home in multiple ways from Tony’s age to his 56 Pontiac Old Injun. I am not much older and owned that same car before it made it up north. Sorry for your loss and praying for you and Tony’s family.

I just thought of the Pontiac Monday out of the blue it seemed as I read someone’s post here and even searched up a pic from when Tony owned it. Seems God was prompting me to think of Tony even though I never met him in person.

    Terrible news. My condolences.
I too worked in tanker trailers for a year, rebuilding them.
A lot of danger in an enclosed space like that.
It’s a gamble. You never know what was carried in them. Welding and heating that metal is also dangerous.

still waiting to hear what happened. i work in an entirely different industry but i've had hazmat training.
going in a confined space, isn't there a buddy system or hatch watcher involved?
    what about O2 monitors?
was it a 2 hatch with a fan blowing in one?
    did tony slip and fall?
still trying to wrap my mind around this one.

Sad news indeed, way too young,
I sent him some parts for his 56 when he had it,
Nice guy, every time I talked to him on the phone it ended up being an hour and a half of car talk.
    RIP

    Very sorry, Rick.
Easy to understand if the not knowing is making it even a little more difficult for you. Not knowing important stuff sucks. Especially about those we care about. Bless Tony. Bless you.

Really saddened to read this news, much too young. Rick my sincere condolences, in response to your questions there should ae a lot of controls when entering a confined space, hopefully there will be a solid investigation and you'll get the answers you need.

That makes it all the more tragic if it could be prevented. May I ask where he worked? If you’d rather not tell I’ll understand.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Way too young for sure. In the marine transportation trade, when it comes to tankers and barges, we were trained to let them breathe for a day or two with the hatches open. So sad that this could have been or possibly should have been prevented.

I did not know him but the Old Injun was one of the coolest cars on the HAMB to me. It's what inspired me to blow up my car.

    Too young.

Up my way there was recently a tragedy at a Tanker repair service that took out the facility and about 8 or more employees instantly...those are businesses where the utmost care must be taken and unfortunately one corner cut could be absolutely lethal...they are still investigating that one...but as Rick said even a slip in a tank is all it takes for the worst to happen...so unfortunate. Knowing what happened won't bring back this Hamber but may prevent the incident from happening to another in the future...
