It's a special club for special people who wear special hats and sing special songs on special days, I'll never fit in.

  5. More of a Groupe than a club. I thought it would be great to get all the guys on the HAMB who own Mercurys together,to exchange ideas, thoughts, parts suppliers, progress on their projects. Help each other out with tips and stuff. There will be shirts after the Merc Gathering in Kansas. It will look like my avatar, but with a few changes.
    NO meetings
    NO hats
    NO clubhouse
    NO dues
It's guys like YOU Jeff, that gave me the idea to share the knowledge about Mercurys and Customs.

  6. Alright Bob, I wasnt sure if all that stuff existed and I just wasnt seeing it or what.

  7. It's all smoke and mirrors buddy!!!!

Any closer to getting your Merc back on the road?

  8. It's getting a little closer, I had some drama go down at the first shop that I am still dealing with but now it is where it needs to be.I cant FUC**NG wait till im mashing the throttle in that car!

  11. That's a really nice looking Merc,BigE!!!!

  12. Looking forward to a new motor someday too! Mine can't get out of it's own way, right now. But it cruises great!!! haha!

  13. FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!! Just spent all morning taking off the mono-leafs and putting the stock rear springs back on. Lowered it about 1". Should ride much softer now. If anybody is interested,i'm selling them for $200. They work great if your stock springs are sagging or worn. I just wanted to go lower. Send me a PM if you're interested.
Now...i'm going for a test drive!!!

8pints, that is a great looking chop and 4 to 2 door conversion you did.

I have the same power steering conversion as you used. The only difference was I used my stock steering column. I had to use two steering u joints instead of one because of the firewall m/c booster that was in the way.

Here are some pics of my column mods and the box installation.

you might already know this,so please dont make me feel like an ass.did you know you can pull out the sparkplugs, and change them to header style plugs that are much shorter? any auto parts store carries those plugs.

I have an idea, why don't you guys get together and have some type of HAMB Merc club hats made up.They cant be that much money to get made.

By the way guys, you have some kick ass Mercs on here.Keep posting pics.

But the 2 iconic Mercs of all time, and we just lost one of the originals, the Matranga and Barris cars.

    Thanks mikes51
    appreciate the feedback
Is your car on your avatar ?
If so yours looks great too
I may have to change my steering wheel as it is the original and it looks spot welded on at the mo.
And a big no no for our DVLA checks
once we get the body sorted we will check it out properly lol
and see if it can be adapted and bolted

Thanks, ideas are always welcome in my book. Even if I already knew that, the idea might help someone else on the forum who has the same problem.

Actually I removed the pic because I made a mistake. It's another part of the steering box that is in my way. The box sits so high, it's almost as high as the valve cover. It's hard to get my hand through that space to get the plug started.

Yes, that's my car in the avatar. I chopped it 3 in the front and 4 and a quarter inch in the back.

I'm pretty sure you could work with the Merc wheel. There is a large metal section in the middle that has alot of room for modifying or drilling.

    VERY NICE love the look

and as for the steering wheel may have to change it for a smaller one anyway
being that i'am a short chap and may struggle to see over it and don't want to look through it. Will have to take a good look this week lol
probably sounds daft that we have not looked yet
but has i say been concentrating on the chop and that we are close to finish weld
we can spend more time on other bits.

  27. It looks like you have an aftermarket steering column, so you are limited to what steering wheel will fit. If it's a GM column you can put on something like this 55 chevy wheel. I think they repro them in the original size and this smaller size.
