Customs HAMB Mercury Gathering, July 23-25, 2010

The first official HAMB Mercury Gathering will be July 23-25, 2010 at Kustom Kemps
of America’s 30th Anniversary LEADSLED SPECTACULAR in Salina, Kansas. You can

I talked to Devona ***us the other day and she said that they would be proud to be
part of the HAMB Mercury Gathering. They told me that they would set aside some
parking so we could all park together. The reason Salina is the purrfect location it is
centralized with in the country and besides our Mercs, they’re will be 800 plus other
Kustoms and Hot Rods. This is going to be Kool!!

I’m working on the art work that will be used for a sticker/dash plaque. Everyone that
participates in the gathering will receive something to remind them about this kool event.
We will need to get a Merc count so we can get an idea how much space that we will
need. If you have any questions please feel free to post them on here or send me a pm.
If I don’t know the the answer I’ll make something up.

That's the incentive I've been needing to get the Merc back on the road. I'm not gonna make the round-up in it, so, I might as well make this.

I was just thinking about when I had rescued ithis Merc from the woods and relized that it has been hibernating there for the past 30 years...........kind of ironic that this is the 30th anniversary of the KKOA. For me this is going to be a great event being I will be able to participate in such a show as this and that I am going to be able to do so in my very first Merc ever along with being able to present a special piece I am doing for the one and only Mr. Bill Hines and on top of this already great stuff I will also be apart of the first ever HAMB Merc gathering this will be something that I will never forget A once and a live time experience.

 

Will this run be open to any Merc or just '49,'50 & '51?

Mick, I'll try to be there in mine. Hoping to make the Round Up and the Stray Kat, but that will depend on the where we are at with the building construction.

 

Looking forward to seeing all the Merc's together at one of my very favorite summer car events.

Are you making him one of your very cool statues?? He's going to LOVE it!

Thanks Denise, that makes me feel good. I hope that what I do turns outt good enough to present to him and I hope I have enough balls to give it to him myself. I tend to be a bit timid when it comes to talking to people face to face like that especially in front of otheres.

 

This needed to be done. I've not seen your Merc before so I'm looking forward to
checking it out. Last year at Salina, I saw a bunch of Mercs that were new to my
eyes. This year with the gathering going on we should be way too kool.

I wanna park beside you again. It was kool to see the two Merc together at the
HAMB Drags.

Very kool story, this is what events like this is all about. Meeting new kool people.

Yes all Merc welcome The guidelines for the gathering will be the same as the HAMB
Merc Club

We are trying to make the Round up this year but have a lot of "to dos" on the Merc
before I go. Hopefully see ya in Dewey this year.

This gathering is going to be a blast.....

I can help you out with that if you'd like. I can personally introduce you to him then you can present it to him. Keep in mind he is hard of hearing so you'll have to talk loud.

 

So I take it that you will be there right? If so I will plan on you helping me out with this so I will be looking forward to meeting you. I have talked to Bills son a few times on the phone and he seems like an awful nice person and being I am not really going to know anyone at this event it would be nice to have some people to hang with and show me around the place. I am planning on driving my newly discovered Merc to this event. Being the time frame is not that far away along with previous engagments(Billetproof FL) I am limited to what I can do to the Merc. So I just hope everone understands that it has been sitting and rotting for the past 30 years in the woods and I am planning on driving it from NY to this event so I have to concentrate on the reliabilty factor first. I may have some time to get it looking better but I am not sure if it will happen because I have a decent size family my wife and 6 kids 14,9,7,5,3,and 5 months todate. so they require some attention too........... But I am going to this show with this Merc one way or another. I can not wait to meet everyone that is going from the HAMB as well as the many others that will be therer. My good friend is going to ride with me out and back so at least I will have a copilot and a good mechanic on hand........lol

I'll be there with the Lonely Knights from Colorado Springs...Dave Pareso's Merc should be up and ready again by that time, too...

Going to go pick mine up in the morning. 1950. Hey Dustin I'll race you from mac to salina.lol I'm going to do my best to have my merc there. Let me see make a list. I need to do everything.

 

Hey LockWood, If I get the week off from work. I am going maybe we could meet some where and run together. That way when my car breaks your buddie can fix mine.LOL I am sure they wont break down untill we hit the Kansas state line.

 

Heck, a 10 hour drive is only a couple hours longer drive than it was to the HAMB Drags last year. We have improved gas mileage to over 20mph at 75-80 mph and will have a better seat. Should be an easy drive. Old 50's paint will still be faded and speckled though so Lockwoodkustoms shouldn't be worried about his Merc's paint.

Looking forward to the show and to meeting other HAMBers.

 

Will be there w/ mine. I love this show. Just drove her out to SoCal last week from Austin in preparation for the GNRS at the end of the month. She loves the road.

I plan on talking to ***us this weekend at the Starbird show in Wichita. If you have
any interest in the gathering please let me know so I can get enough spaces set aside
for parking. Working on a Kool giveawy for the guys that participate......

hey stray kat sounds like there will be a big turnout for the show. on the 20th to 23rd in england is the europeen nats and from 24th and 25th the english nats are on i was hopeing to maybe see if i could get a gathering of europeen mercs over the week to run in conjuntion with your gathering what do you think

 

I'm gonna push for a SoCal HAMB Merc gathering at the HAMB BBQ,the saturday before the LARS. I'll start promoting it around April. Keep your eyes open! Had over 100 at the BBQ last year.
