Ok, here goes another installment in the life of a traveling engine buyer (me). I met Hamber "Mike in Tulsa" last year at the Hamb Drags where he was a guest in my tent in the swap meet area. We had a good visit along with our other pals Toast and Chadillac. So one night a month or so ago I saw he had a 235 Chevy engine for sale in the cl***ifieds here so I sent him a PM. Then the next Saturday morning I left my home at 3 am and headed southeast for Tulsa town. Mike lives in a historic old neighborhood full of Craftman style bungalow homes. Nice well kept area. I arrived at his driveway at 7:30 am just as the sun was coming up good. It was kind of cold but not bad and we headed straight to the garage which is new but built in period correct style to match his home.
I love this old GMC truck with great patina that he is finishing up and intends to drive to Lone Star Round Up.
We loaded my new engine and I tied it down and hit the road. Would have liked to stay and visit but it was a 13 hour day for me as I stopped and picked up other engines and unloaded them at home later. That's all for now. I enjoy meeting new friends from all over and hope you enjoy these photos. If you see Mike, stop and shake his hand.
Paul, Looks like you had a great time collecting those vintage engines and meeting new friends. Hope you had good weather for this adventure. Dave
Mike is a really cool dude!! He better get that pickup going cause I might be riding with him to LSR!!! Mike... We need a floor in that bed for tools!!!
Paul, you got all the way to Tulsa and didn't come by and see me!!! Just kidding. I have known Mike for a few years now and I still have not been to his place and its a 15 minute drive from my house to Mike's. Place looks great! Better get after that truck Mike, LSR is coming!
Poverty flats, In Tulsa and you could have made your way North 10 miles to see the Nash Lafayatte with the roller 16" tire you sold me? Shame, Shame!
Hey Paul! Looks like everyone wanted you to come by and visit! I would have taken of work to visit with you if I knew you were coming! In T-Town and didn't visit any of your old buddies. Just messing with ya Really Mike, looks like some nice work on that truck. Can't wait to see it in person. You got more stuff pulled apart in your shop than I do!!!
Bob, I know you wouldnt lie about PF. But I seriously doubt the women would be in danger, since he had that surgery done that you told me about.
Thanks Paul. Too bad you couldn't have stayed longer. I have to say, though, your pics truly inspired me to get my shop cleaned up! I had the truck together but the motor had a knock in the lower end so I pulled it all apart for a rebuild. Just waiting for the ****** to get back so I can get it all back together. So, everything I have is a project right now! Still have a lot to do on the truck including the floor in the bed for tools! Toast, I need to come by and see you place too. I understand you got the coupe back. You going to LSR? Thanks guys for the kind words. Paul if I don't see you before, I'll catch up with you at the Leadsled Spectacular.
