I've lived with the faux medical email postings to me for far too long. Suddenly, it has stopped and been replace with all kinds of spam about boxing and tv shows.

They are coming to me from "The H.A.M.B. [support@jalopyjournal.com]"

Just this AM, 13 of 16 posts I got in my email box overnight were HAMB SPAM.

IMHO, it all started when you took the HAMB to cell phone media. PLEASE stop it. Gary

This actually has nothing to do with me or the HAMB. We don't send spam. We don't sell your contact info. In fact, we don't allow access to anything in your account to anybody.

Most likely, you got malware somewhere along the line. This malware then got into your contacts and saw that the support email address was a good one to s****. They then s**** the email to look like it's coming from me and start sending you spam.

Sorry man... I wish I could help. But again, this has nothing to do with us at all really...

Thanx, Ryan... but... so... when emails come directly to me with the HAMB address I mentioned above, it isn't from the HAMB at all? How can I tell them apart? I think what you are saying is that nothing has ever been turned around "through" the HAMB's login process / member list by outside players? I mean, as a member, if I post a new item doesn't it get sent to the membership automatically? Couldn't an outside party be "signing up and logging in" to the HAMB via bogus, automatic software and then sending any old thing out they want after their bogus membership is approved?

One other note: The previous "medical" spam I mentioned that I got thru the "apparent" HAMB postings generally only came at night. I just always ***umed that the day shift moderators had gone to bed and were not intercepting them in the wee hours. Same for the new junk I've been getting over the last few days.

Regardless, thanx for your reply. Gary

Exactly... It has nothing to do with us. Most likely, your email contact list has been compromised somewhere along the way. Details of s****ing here:

You can't tell them apart unless you are technically inclined and can read email headers. Otherwise, it just looks like it's coming from our support email address. I can ***ure you, however, that it hasn't. We check our email server every single night for fraudulent sends. It's part of our security detail.

It's the same kind of stuff where you get an email from ebay or from some bank that you don't do business with wanting you to click on a link to address some "problem". The only real "problem" is all they are doing is trying to steal your info or plant a trojan on your computer for some later use. Ebay and Paypal used to be the worst ones copied, or "s****ed" as they call it, they even have a email address you can report it to and they will shut them down. Like Ryan said, unless you look real close, it will look exactly like a legit email from somewhere, but if you look at the sender address, it will have come from from some other address than what is on the email. If I get an email from anywhere that I don't do business with, I always check the address first, if it don't jive, it gets deleted. And even if you do business with somebody, it doesn't hurt to check first before you go clicking on links. Some you can spot right away with their poor English wording and misspelling, others have gotten hard to distinguish from the real thing without looking at the sender address.

You might want to download a good antivirus program like MalwareBytes and run it, you may have some malware that is attracting this junk.

  6. I don't get the emails, these posts appear on the HAMB home page as recent posts.
Probably shouldn't, but I click on the poster's profile...just joined, first post, EVERY
time. I "report" them immediately. Am I infected, or is everybody seeing these?

    Better to just ignore?

Does the OP have notifications on that send him an email every time a new post is started and he is getting notified when spam threads are started?
