this is part one This is just a little message for all those looking for stories of good people. Not long ago, through a post on interiors, I ran across a very generous Hamb'er Z.Diddy. Just a guy doing his thing up north. He posted a pic of the interior in his five window. A friend, Larry, actually turned me onto this thread ( us Omaha rodders gotta stick together). Well anyway, in Z.'s post, he hinted that the interior could be obtained. Here is the link to that thread.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=303806 After getting in contact, I was told that if I paid shipping, he would ship all the panels , seat cover included. Alright! Well the package arrives and he backs out of the deal, he says "consider it a Gift". I couldnt beleive it , Bob didnt want any money. So, I am here to say, there are some outstanding PEOPLE out there. We had never met and Z.Diddy wanted to show how generous strangers could be. Thank You. here is a picture of the package I recieved.
Isn't it cool when someone helps out....thats what is great about this site there are ALOT of Great folks here...
this is part two. Now to show that the Hamb world is very generous.... Well this has been covered a little in another thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=311855 look for post # 8 Well, Jay decided he had heard enough of my complaining about the price of wall hangers... I mean 32 grills. I dont have any money, so in the build up of my coupe I was forced to build my own grill, after viewing a tech thread by Nealinca. Here is a link to that thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185347 Well, I actually used the original post for insperation. I made my own version and it turned out soo damn heavy. It caused my radaitor support braces break off a couple of times (once in southern Ok on the way home from the Round UP) This is link to the thread about that trip with Nosurf.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185347 Here is a link to the Rad problem.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184478 Jay made the very generous gift of a 32 grill and shell. Sure it had seen better days , but I was willing to put in a little time and effort to make it work. Nosurf bought the insert off Ebay happened to from JimA and go BarnfindT to donate his rough shell that had been widened and sectioned in a past life on an old hotrod. Here is were I am at now in the re-build. here is a link to the rebuild of my coupe... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=219882
Met Z.Diddy at the Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield this year, talked with him awhile, has a really cool 5-window, very nice guy.
I will kinda miss the one you built yourself- but looks like you are doing a lot of building on the "new" one. Wow- an interior! Rodshop
This place is GREAT! I have made so many great deals and hope to treat others in the fine way that the HAMB bros. have treated me!
One of the things I enjoy about my '38 Ford pickup is the stories behind some of the parts. Some parts I paid too much for. Some parts that were given to me. My grille has a story quite similar to the '32 interior story.
Couple of years ago I had a problem with a very slow computer. A Hamber whose name I forget (shame on me) accessed my computer and went right through it, getting rid of any problems. When I was building my '55 Plymouth, OlClunker here on the Hamb sent me some tail-light lenses for the postage alone. Flat-top Bob has been good to me too. The Hamb rocks!!
here is part three.. I called around to find a donor for a roof filler for the coupe and Dave said he thought he had something the I could use and that I should stop by. Well I did and there was a 57 ford wagon calling my name. It was perfect and after cutting it out he said he didnt want anything for it. This is sooo cool. So thanks roadburner1. I cant say enough.
