I'm using the back end of a Total Performance frame, the rest of it was built by a friend of my and he changed his mind so he sold it to me, it was setting outside for several years..... got it, the rear brackets and springs. I had to add 3 inches to the length because it was built for a T bucket. I'm running a S-10 rearend with 3:73 gears. Using a 4 inch dropped axle and reverse eye front spring. The engine is a Buick V6 which came out of my dad's '80 Chev Monza, using the 4 speed also.
Looks good Tom, simple, light and should run real well and not use too much gas. Thanks for the extra detail.
I documented just about everything in this build. The picture shows how frame/rearend fit in the coupe. I picked up another V6 engine for a spare, it's a Turbo which is a heavier built engine. Extra parts came with it also: aluminum valve covers, automatic transmission, shorty headers, four barrel manifold, cam and lifters. Thought I would bolt on the outside goodies for appearances and leave the cam alone.
Here's some fuzzy pics of my coupe. Gonna run a 56 Pontiac 316 with 3-2's. My buddy that owns blackboard hot rods in Bakersfield is helping me out with some floor space to put my car together. He mainly builds 32 rails but he can do pretty much anything. The big factor is his welds penetrate and my just like to set on top of the metal.
Here's my 26.. Body was Ebay from southern Colorado.. Fairly good shape too.. not a whole lot of rust.. Built the frame from 2x3 box steel, Engine is an LS1 out of a newer SS Camaro thats going to get the Carburetor treatement, Have a Powerglide sitting in the garage. Its going to have a 9" rear on ladder bars, Suicide front axle and whatever else fits the build as I go. Its halfway stripped to bare steel at this point and Its going to need very minor patchwork.
If ya look at my page there is a link to a T Coupe group! Everyone should join! I would post link but not really sure how, sorry!
Chris that looks wicked, tell us more about it and dont hold back on the pic's. I'd like to know the theory behind your choice of cowl etc and how you will get it all to fit etc.
