  7. Monster, number 4 is kewl.I'd go with it for sure.I like 32 roadsters but they are a lil metooish in the goldchain circle.Should try a design with, cuttin, torchin, weldin, scroungin, stealin, hammerin etc. That would show the world what the HAMB is all about.
And in my world kustom is spelt with a K!
    Just my opinion.........Shiny

I think Django has a pretty good idea, that would make a damn good looking Shirt. The two Brush just put up look good too.Why stop with one shirt?

As far as printing and distributing, why couldn't the design be sent to the outfit that did Zekes Cookbook? Then no money has to be put out by anybody, and availibility doesn't become an issue. From what I understood, they print the stuff on demand, instead of stocking it. A permanent link could be put on the HAMB somewhere and Ryan could be making money off these, with very little hassle.

Something like cafepress? I've looked into it.

BAD POINTS: The finished product tends to be a little expensive and there isn't much money that's gonna go to Ryan out of it.

GOOD POINTS: Product on demand, no large cash outlay no storage/shipping issues.

    Da Cookbook
Ok to address the CafePress deal. Yeah, they do it as ordered. The cookbook site is one of the free shops. I can only do one of each type of product. So that means only one design per shirt type. Granted there are a few different shirts offered. but you are limited in color to white and gray but you can do infant [IMG] T and shirts for the gals or (thongs), lunch boxes, posters stickers [IMG] and posters. Oh and you can do CDs to in case The HAMB CD needs a home.

Also if someone wanted to HAMB tech could be compliled and put in book form as well.

Biggest bitch is that the cost of the T's is a tad high. Base price of $13.99 for a plain white T but that includes the printing [IMG]

I like the look of Django's design in the red oxide look. But ultimately it will be Ryans call. Just my .02

I should of said this earlier, but I was in a hurry to post my ideas. I think that Djangos idea and Brushs ideas are all excellent!

Nothing is final and all these ideas so far(mine included) are just that, ideas. Maybe we can take parts of some and combine them with others, who knows.

And for all fairness, I understand this is Ryans call. But as far as which design is the one for the final pick, I think ALL the HAMBers, including Ryan, should vote on it.

that way everyone has a chance to vote and be heard. It makes it more of a group shirt, than just one guy picking the design.

What do you guys think? What do you think Ryan? Just some ideas for the group [IMG]

I think they all are awesome! I really like the idea of the red shirts too. Defenitely easier to find the Hambers at shows/meets.
If you guys need someone to handle the orders, money, and shipping details, I'd be more than happy to do so!
Great work as always you guys!

Maybe it could be a collabration of stripers. Get a panel and send it around and everyone add some lines to it and then mail it off to the next guy. Three to five guys maybe? Red oxide shirts are a good idea also, could you do black also. They don't show stains on them.

Oh yea, whatever happened to the patches that were going to be printed in England or somewhere across the lake.

I like Django's shift knob w/ the pin sripping. I also like Brush's "The Hamb, International".
I think Monster's are graphically awesome but I don't feel they reflect rods and customs as well. They strike me more about flatheads and/or racing.
Just my 2 cents. Anyone have change for a nickel?

That roadster looks great, but what we need is something like a badass chopped & channeled A-Bone 5-W. Flatty with multiple carbs that looks like it's still being worked on. Maybe on jackstands with a wheel off showing the Buick drum and hairpin. Outline the pic with striping. On the front you could do the traditional HAMB logo over the pocket and maybe a Kustom. Something like a 50's engine compartment with rocket valve covers and a striped caddy air cleaner. Shirt needs to show that we HotRod and work on old school cars. My 2 cents worth.

You know, I just got an idea after reading everyones comments so far on what they would like to see on the shirt.

Most everyone is agreeing that a real HAMB style car would be great to sybolize what kind of cars and people the HAMB is all about, right?

Well, I was thinking, instead of looking through all my pics of cars Ive taken for a suitable car that fits the image, why not use a REAL HAMB car?!?!

My idea was this: If you have a car that you feel fits the discription, email me a picture of it. I'll stylize it, clean it up in photoshop and use it within a new design.

How cool would it be to actually have a real HAMB car on our shirts, owned and built by a HAMBer?!

And just think, it could be your car that all the HAMBers have on their back! Maybe I could make a collage of the top three cars! A foordoor, a wagon, a truck, a roadster, a ???

Its just an idea, but what a cool way to involve EVERYONE, not just the artists! And we could have more than one shirt, with three car clusters on each one with different designs for each different three car cluster or whatever!!

I'm excited about the idea! let me know what you guys and gals think, I'm really curious to see if you like the idea. If you want to email me your car pic, send it here:

    pictures@monsterhotrods.com

(pictures of cars/trucks taken at a 3/4 view are the best, but send whatever you think is cool)

Me too. I really like the design and the shirt color. My wife wants a tank top version.

The exploded parts designs are cool to, but I think the striping and shift knob better reprensent both rods and customs.

Monster, love the designs... shit, all of those look really good. I like 3 and 6 the most... the color scheme you've guys have picked is perfect, too. Django's first design though... awesome shit. The "shifter" HAMB logo is pretty cool. I'd proudl;y wear my shirt next year at BillitProof so Germ and find me and kick my ass easier this time.

I like the shift knob design. I wasn't sure till I saw everyone else's ideas. While they are all kick ass. I like it simple. All the others are to complicated for me. The shift knob design kinda covers everyone. The kustom guys and the hot rod people to. Keeps down the us against them attitudes. Unless the automatic guys get all pissy about it. [IMG] I feel that it does need to say traditional rods & customs on it someplace. Never leave a doubt what this place is about.

Those are good designs Monster. I've read the posts since friday and have a few comments.

Here's more rhetoric on why I like the pinstripe shifter design...

It's more abstract and open to interpretation. Notice how right away people who knew what those parts were took notice and commented that that motor wasn't the motor of their choice? I've even used those exact drawings myself for some design work for All-Custom Engineering. I think they are too specific for this usage. The HAMB is about alot of the aspects of traditionalism coming together. Not just putting an engine together and going fast.

I would like to see the design element of the Tshirt stand out in the crowd and I think Ryan agree's based on his comments whenever he pops into the thread. Go to any car show and look at the shirts for sale for whatever event. Not trad shows but anyshow, like GG for example. Ever notice that they put multiple cars on each event shirt to try to get as many people as possible to buy into the design? Why is that? Because a car that gives one guy wood, some else might not walk across the street for. While that would be an extreme example in HAMBland, it still holds true. How do you pick a car that makes everyone happy? You pick a custom and a hot rod, which is how the last shirt turned out, and it was a good shirt. But this time Ryan has suggested a more traditional design and based on conversations we've had over the course of the calendar project and seeing some of the design work that he has done recently, I know where he is coming from. He wants it clean, simple and unique and have a bit more heritage visually.

The point was also made that it should tell the HAMB story. ie people doing it themselves, showing the period parts, even showing the car apart to highlight the vintage pieces. IMO that is not the direction it should take. The HAMB is the HAMB. Either you get it or you don't. The main function of the shirt is to support the board. However it looks, it will achieve that. It also makes it easy to find fellow HAMBers. That's great and very helpful. But I don't think the shirt needs to tell the whole story and recruit new members to the HAMB by trying to create a design that covers every aspect of the trad movement, ie multiple cars, special speed parts, etc. The shifter logo/striping represent both sides of car building; the aesthetic and the mechanical and not so much hot rod vs custom.

That got a little long winded and maybe I'm a little closer to the design end of the HAMB experience since I have been working with Ryan and others on the calendar for so long. Whatever design is chosen, and whether or not it is one of mine, it should meet Ryan's vision.
