Court and I just came in after 3 hours of cleaning in the back of the barn. We're bringing in the truck for winter and we'll get busy on the plumbing and wiring. Hope to have it running by New Years.

No pictures yet but we spent the last couple of hours cleaning up all of the wiring. We cable tied every 2-3 inches in groups designated like 'headlights', 'tail lights', 'engine power', and 'gauges'. Green for headlights, yellow for tail, red for power, and black for gauges. Ran out of green so they turned white 1/2 way through. I'll look for some more green at Harbor Freight at lunch tomorrow. Need to get some grommets in place and then we'll work on putting ends on everything. I'll put some plastic tubing on the headlight runs after they go through the inner fenders to protect them from road debris. Need to get a carb to air cleaner spacer to put some height on and then carb bolts and install of throttle linkage.

School is almost out for winter so we'll do what we can now and hit the rest after exams.

I've been wondering what you guys have been up to. Glad I found this thread again to fill in the blanks. Looks like Cort has been pushed into Billetproof for the last time. You should be able to tie up the things that separate you from a running truck by next spring. Then it's insurance, license plates, mom worring every time he is 10 minutes late getting home and dad hoping he beat the ricer away from the last stoplight.:D

Thanks, Frank. Actually, we are looking at an ****** as a DD. My buddy, Tom, lost his mom last month and she has an '02 ****** with 32k on the clock for a great price. Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it and get it home from CT! If I catch him racing ricers, he's in deep doo doo! Unless I forget to tell his mom!!

More wiring tonight. Inner fender grommets installed with headlight/turn signal wires run and ends on the headlight wires. Need to get my book out to remember which is high/low/power and then get som clips for the turn signals. Also, need to install some new housings so we have turn and parking lights rather than just park.

Don't you just hate it when you make a mistake. I pulled the wires through for the headlights, put ends on them, got ready to put them in the clips and realized I'd done Hi Beam, Lo Beam, and HORN not GROUND! Dumb***. Looks like I'll just run the horn to ground and a new wire to horns. Doh!

Need to open the holes in the back of the buckets, grommet them, and pull the wires into the bulbs and I have one end of the circuit done. Need to get some horns, though.

Towed the truckster down to Enjenjo's in Swanton, OH for a few days of R&R. Roddin & Renchen.

Pulled wires for the starter through the frame. Put the battery behind the seat, knocked out one of the gas tank strap mounts to do it. Got the manifolds on and tight. Made new studs for the power steering box and got it aligned. Ran some wiring for the gauge senders and got all the senders in.

Still plenty to do but Frank is pushing us in the right direction and has too much knowledge to go to waste.

More work at Frank's place. Got the power to the starter run and Frank and Court are working on the clutch mount. That is after they built the PS bracket to the exhaust manifold. Frank does some really nice work!

Going to change the clutch line tomorrow and bleed it, get the fuses in the fuse block, and work on fuel lines. Gonna be tight, too many other responsibilities in the mean time that keep getting in the way.

Happy Anniversary to Frank and his bride!

Fuel lines are nearly done, 2 more hours and I'll have the filter in and the line to the carb. Frank has the line from the carb to the firewall run with a bracket so we'll meet with a flex line to make it decoupled for vibrations.

Wiring is there enough to get spark but we've got a bit of work to do yet for the fuel pump to kick in.

Frank and Court got the clutch cylinder mounted today and Frank was working on the flex line when I left tonight.

Radiator hoses are on. Oil filter is changed. Little stuff to do like dash wiring, headlight switch, turn signals, dome light, fuel pump pre-run power, and a million little things I'll get to once we drag it home.

Our home school co-op starts tomorrow so the boys and I won't be at it again until Friday. We do have a shopping list to hit and Court had best bust out his piggy bank because mine is running on E!

I screwed up the clutch mounting location. Not sure how but I've got the clutch master about 2" off in one direction and about 2" low. We've got the truck home and she'll crank on her own but we didn't fire because we can't drive it anyway, too much clutch binding.

A picture would be good, but can you move the location of the rod on the pedal( and still have enough throw)? And if that is OK, you could make a spacer that you could weld to the pedal to line up the rod to the clylinder(as long as it doesn't interfere with brake pedal). And it may just be easier to move the clutch master to where you wanted it in the forst place. Good luck.

Baron's right in that I can make the bracket but it will be close to the brake pedal. On the back side it will be too close to the brake booster if I move it where I want it. So I get to do BOTH!

Plan is to move it 2" to the driver's side and then a bracket on the pedal. That will put it about 3/8" from the pedal and give room for the bracket on the pedal.

Then we'll extend the pedal on down from there. I'll try for pictures today now that the truck is home and so are we!

Dead batteries so I can't even download what we took last week!

Anyway, got the wire connectors from NAPA today so we can wire up the Speedo and the Back Up lights. Also swapped the last few 6V bulbs that were in it.

Got the Chieftain signal switch wired up based on the diagram I found doing a websearch. Put a new 12V bulb in it so the indicator lights up on the unit. We'll put in some 3/8" lights into the dash to actually show the hi beam and the flashers.

We made a nice, long 'To Do' list and are working on crossing things off, one at a time!

Clutch mount is relocated. Still a touch low so we're fabbing a bracket to mount it up the pedal. Doesn't feel like too much effort but we'll extend the pedals anyway.

This is sort of where he wants to go but he's telling me we can't chop it.

    54 Bel Air headlight rings
54 Bel Air front fender line at center of ring
54 Bel Air rear 1/4s (gas tank door to stay in place, S10 Blazer tank lines up fairly good here)
Moon one piece tail light lenses
Not sure on the skirts or not, probably not, but we'll see.
Already running 54 Bel Air steering wheel
Color plan either wine or a blue green. Undecided.

We've still got the chrome reverse that were originally on the old '53 that you got, Bob. And I've upgraded the WWW on those. Need good caps, though. The skirts are just filling in right now, probably won't have them. Got some bowling alley wood for the bed, too!

The boy has been sick this week so nothing is getting done! He'd best bust a move tomorrow!
